I haven't commented on the situation yet partly because I made my peace with the fact that this was going to happen months ago and partly because it's pretty redundant, but this sums up a lot of my thoughts. In particular about loyalty, it's something I've really been taking notice of recently, players and managers in the modern game give just as much loyalty to fans as fans do to them. You love and respect them whilst they are here, then as soon as they are gone you don't give a toss about them and your opinion of them suddenly changes overnight.

I'm not sure you can compare the two loyalties, if only because a fan doesn't move on from the club and in 99% of occasions has a far greater emotional involvement than a player or manager. That said I am not screaming or shouting at MP. I thank him for what he helped us achieve, but will not be bothered about his future success.

I think you can compare them fairly well. There are two constants in terms of loyalties, for the fans it is their club and for players/managers/staff it is themselves. Other than that loyalties are temporary from both ends and neither side is in a position to moan about that in most circumstances.
Loyalty to something other than oneself may be seen as a virtue. Loyalty only to oneself certainly is not.
You can't take the emotion away, and I think your analogy (fatletiss) is about right. does there not exist situations where a manager or player get applauded when they come back to a club depending on the circumstances of departure?
I have made myself watch Sky's coverage..have to get through it sometime. Glad he's not giving a press conference as he will no doubt speak English and make us look stupid. However, I was ready for this and you get over a parting more once you begin to dislike someone. Losing Adkins was 15 on a 1-10 scale of suffering, whereas losing MP is more a 4 because I can see he is a 'player'.
Have also listed possible managers for us and said that we will be looking for a high calibre manager (amen to that). Yakin tops the list, but that is hardly surprising as he spoke out yesterday and punters responded by putting money on it. Sooner the better, followed by announcements about purchases, please.

Well said Fran, that just about sums up my feelings. If Poch wants to join the ever-lengthening queue of managers who thought they could achieve what Levy wants but failed, good luck and good riddance. The way Spuds treated Sherwood after he turned the team around shows what awaits Mauricio in... how long would you give him? 6 months? A year?
Thanks to Poch for a good season but I care no more for his success. I have a feeling that he may actually do well at spurs, which will be more than annoying.
I'd love to be a fly on the wall when he tells Adebayor about the double training sessions...
Unfortunately, I can see him being a perfect fit for Spurs. I think Levy will know that he has to finally give a manager some time, and given time Pochettino will excel. I'll be very surprised if they're not at least knocking on the CL door at the end of the season.
Of course, with any luck they'll lose 6-0 to Arsenal on the opening day of the season, but can you really see that?
The sad part is he was doing fantastic things at Southampton could have challenged Spurs for 6th next season. Spurs won't be top 4. Man U will not be as poor (by their standards as this season), Liverpool are on high and building, Man C and Chelsea will continue to buy success, Everton have grouped under Martinez and Arsenal have money to invest. I would have had Newcastle and you challenging for the 6th (maybe 5th place).
Spurs, in Europe, again will be stretched.
It could be you'll get a better manager as we did when Martinez, then Sousa left Swansea.

Nicola had done a lot for us...he deserved thanks from us and from Katharina. MP was here for an enjoyable 5 minutes and then lied through his teeth pretending he intended to see out his contract. The board probably consider that they have been let down...so not surprised he got no thanks.
It's nothing about loyalty at all ( for most of us). He has moved to a bigger club, with better players and more money, which is fair play. It's the way he went about it that has angered most fans.
