To be fair the players were hamstrung by Pearsons stupid decision to play 5 at the back against Hull. They were quite happy to protect the point they started with and the onus was on us to attack and break them down. Hull had 3 at the back and 5 in midfield which meant they outnumbered our 2 strikers and 3 midfielders all the time. They must have been rubbing their hands in glee seeing our centre backs, it seemed mainly to be big Wes, bringing the ball out of defence with very few passing options every time.
... have to say I'm with you Weller - 5 at the back away from home with those two wing backs to enable speedy counter attacking against home sides on whom the onus is to attack is perfect sense ... ... but 5 at the back against a team that knows that a draw is as good as a win for them (visa-a-vis their postion against ours) can hardly be termed 'going for it' ... to then comment that we didn't do enough offensively defies any logic - again I come back to the point that I just don't get why we are not playing our 2 multi-million pound forward signings together ... still baffled.
I wouldn't have gone for a back five against Hull at home, but you can be sure that he'll certainly play that formation away at Tottenham. I assume his thinking is that he wants a settled formation (reverting to a back four during the Villa cup match was a disaster), so we'll continue to see at least a back five. And, if I was a cynic, I'd say that there's more justification for Morgan's continued presence when there are three CBs instead of two.
What we need are wins not a placid settled formation. We have to go out giving ourselves the best chance of winning every game. In my eyes that's 4 at the back and 2 upfront with 4 in the middle who can support either. Points tally, goals scored, conceded, home record etc. show that we are currently on schedule to go down as 1 of the worst premiership teams ever. It's S*** or bust time now - Let's just give it our best attacking shot and not die wondering. Here endeth today's lesson.
Here, Here..... Let's at least go out the way we started, with a bang. Look, all season the pundits have been saying that we are a good side, with good players, so let's show them that Foxes Never Quit. At this point in the season with us 7 points from safety, does it matter now if we get hammered 4 or 5-0, as long as we as supporters can say "At least we had a go", I don't want to get relegated, but I don't mind if we go down trying, at the moment we just seem to be going down with a whimper.
