Still not sure our best 11 too many players so inconsistent but I'll go with

    .......................... Burge..........................

    Sanderson...... Wright... Willis..... Mcfad

    .......... Leadbitter........... Winchester.......

    Gooch. ..............maguire........ Mcgeady

    ........................... Wyke.........................

Diamond was poor on Saturday and hopefully gooch is fit enough to start, macfadzen is very poor Defensively but he's our only left footed defender atm.

I've no idea WTF has gone wrong with McFadzean tbh, he's much better than he's playing. I'd play him left wing rather than left back because he's a liability at the moment, I was literally cringing yesterday. Sanderson would do a better job at left full back.

I'd also have O'Brien as the first name on the team sheet. Apart from his work up front he made half a dozen excellent defensive headers and one superb tackle, near the end, when a Shrewsbury attacker was running away with the ball.

Scowen really put a shift so may need a rest and I see Winchester as a similar player.

One thing I would add is that Johnson should tell the players he wants a minimum of 3 shots, from outside the box, in every game. We're not doing that so the defenders know they can keep their shape plus keepers, at this level, are always prone to a blunder. We can't always be looking for tap ins from cut backs.

It's our final ball and decision making for me and has been all season if we can get that right or better then we will win many more games. Also if we can get at least 2 players with top league 1/ championship quality in the next week or so then it will make a huge difference

I didn’t watch the game yesterday, but you aren’t the first person who said Diamond was poor. After watching the highlights he should have shot when he was through on goal, not sure what went through his mind tbh. I do like the lad though as he gives us a different dimension. I would like to see him working on his passing as he always looks like he’s going give the ball away when he has it. A lot of potential though.

Leave Power at RB, move Sanderson to LB, consider putting Mcfad at LW. McGeady isnt getting any younger and will make a bloody good impact sub for this game. Cannot drop AOB at the minute.

Sorry, looking back I wasn't clear enough.

I'm saying I think he's a liability at lb but capable at rw or rwb ...

... I'd play him there after an hour of McGeady or for the first half depending on the game.

I wouldn't drop McGeady for him.

He has but I don't think he's playing anywhere near as well as he can.

Nee idea marra as you've said, we aren't consistent yet...
Thought I'd heard LJ say Gooch was returning from covid isolation on the day of the game and had only been training in his garden (inferring he might not be match fit)?

He played Left midfield for Plymouth not LB I believe. This is why he is being exposed defensively. Let's face it, McGeady isn't going to cover for him.

I'm surprised at how many people are saying Diamond was poor. Every time he ran at them, their defence looked terrified. He was direct, beat his man and generally retained the ball well. He looked lacking in composure around the box and when in front of goal, but in those instances, he'd done brilliantly to fashion the opportunity to score.

I'd have him in the team straight away. If a winger has the beating of his man, the opposition are far less likely to use overlapping full backs.

I think he will stick with his 4-2-2-2 formation tbh, even though we’re not playing very well. We played 4-2-3-1 in our best performance of the season at Lincoln so I’m not sure why he’s changed it.

I’d drop McFadzean even though we don’t have another proper left back, maybe Sanderson could do a job there? I have no faith in McFadzean and feel like we’re going to concede every time the opposition come down our left hand side. Keep Power, Wright and Willis in the back four.

I think he will rest Leadbitter as he’s too old to be playing every 3 days which is a shame because I cannot stand Scowen. I reckon he will start Scowen and Winchester together, would be nice to see O’Nien get a decent run out though at some point.

Diamond has been lacklustre but Maguire has looked half arsed when he’s come on. So I think he sticks with Diamond and probably McGeady even though the latter hasn’t been great lately either IMO. Wyke and O’Brien up top again.

Diamond is a great asset but needs to get good hard crosses into the box rather than going for the extra pass ...

... him and Power got into good positions then dithered on the ball.

We have players in the box now Johnson is here, get the ball in ffs.
