So Paul Konchesky will probably miss out with a hamstring injury. Michael Keane also picked up a knock and came off so he is a doubt. Jamie Vardy might be able to make the bench after being touch and go yesterday but missed out. So here is what I would play

Schmeichel

Moore
Morgan
Whitbread
De Laet

Marshall
King
Drinkwater
Knockaert

Nugent
Waghorn

Subs- Logan, Keane, James, Lingard, Dyer, Schlupp, Futacs

Let's go radical ... forwards hardly pulling up daisies right now so:

Kasper

De Laet
Morgan
Whitbread
Moore

Knockaert
King
Drinkwater
Lingard

Futacs
Schlupp.

Nugent has got 6 which is a respectable tally so far.

The rest of the strikers hasnt been good enough.

I may be putting 2+2 together and getting 5 but I dont think Jamie Vardy is injured/ill

I think Nigel has seen enough of Vardy at this level now to know what Vardy needs to improve at to be successful. I think Nigel has realised Vardy just doesnt have the upper body strength to compete with the defenders in this league so he has pulled him out for a bit so that Vardy can put more hours into the gym and come back a better player.

Just a thought

As 'conspiracy theories' go - not bad ... but once you consider that conference defenders are far less 'refined' than those in the Championship it seems less likely - Vardy has actually done quite well considering the step up and has also had a couple of 'good' goals chalked off due to poor refereeing decisions - if they had been given his goals to games (time on pitch) would be on a par with, if not better than, Nugents - as such I think it more likely that he has both had a virus and picked up a niggling injury ...

A lot less impressive when you consider that 3 of those were in one game ... as I've said before he does not impress me as a 'main target man'
Thats cause he isn't, well, shouldnt be. I dont see Nigel playing the Howard/Fryatt long ball game any more, not when hes buying players like Knockeart and Marshall.

I dont see why he doesnt have Futacs feeding Nugent tbh for those "dig you heels in/win by a goal" games.

Yeah, have to say, I think Vardy will be back shortly. We seem to have been missing a bit of energy since he disappeared (for whatever reason!).

If there is an ulterior motive for leaving him out, then perhaps he's done something a bit naughty. We know Pearson doesn't put up with nonsense. We'll see, but I have to agree with Proud that this "illness" has lasted nearly as long as a pregnancy.

Wait a minute...

Perhaps I should have labelled it 'main striker' - which is where I was going ... Andy King is a far more accomplished finisher .. we need a Lineker, Cottee, Rodney Fearn!

If we had a striker who could score a goal in every 3 chances he could easily bag a couple a game. I'll probably get for stick for this but i'd have beckford back. He may not do as much running as nugent/vardy but if you give him a sight of goal he'll hit the target. I know his attitude isnt great but the best managers are able to get difficult personalities to perform well and contribute to the team in one way or another

We'd need Grayson to manage him, Nigel would just want to punch him <laugh>
Problem with having the "lazier" Beckford type is that less chances will be created and we would be dropping deeper to make up for it, so its kind of swings and roundabouts.

If we were going to have that kind of player though, bring back the Yak! he doesn't need too many chances to score <ok>

The only way we could allow for Beckford to come back is if we played through him and he made a significant difference to his workrate.

I can't see either happening.

... never mind 'stick' ... brace yourself for a shrubbery!

I just cannot see why we dont give Futacs a chance, playing along side Nugent! We have nothing to lose
seems to me the others cant hit a barn door at the moment.

If only we could find another Frank Large in the lower league's :emoticon-0112-wonde

Paul Konchesky has been ruled out

@konch3: Thanks for all the concerns on the injury! Get the results tomorrow! So hopefully not too long but gutted ill be missing the game sat #LCFC
