Given our injuries this is going to be a big test of our squad. I wonder if the team will stay in the North West this week. It seems silly to me to travel all the way home on Wednesday night, only to leave again on Friday for Manchester.

If we stay in the NW I would expect a much stronger team v Carlisle. If we're travelling back and forward, it must be tempting to leave some of our better players at home and save on the travel fatigue.

Assuming we're staying in the NW

Lloris, Smith, Dawson, Caulker, Reserve LB (Byrne? is he a LB, not sure who else. I presume we've got one lf who's reaonably good, if not then Townsend) Hudd Pritchard/Parret, Siggy, JJ, Mason, Dempsey

very speculative from me and probably way off the mark

I'm hoping that Naughton, Livermore and Adebayor return for this game, but I've no idea how likely that is.
Lloris; Smith, Caulker, Dawson, Naughton; Jenas, Livermore, Huddlestone, Townsend; Sigurdsson; Adebayor, if they're available.

Lloris; Walker, Dawson, Caulker, Naughton; Livermore, Huddlestone, Falque, Sigurdsson, Townsend; Dempsey.

Make the bench strong though.

Byrne won't play, he's gone back in time

BBC Sportsday said:
Tottenham defender Nathan Byrne, 20, joins League One side Crawley Town on loan until January 2003.

He's also grown an extra pair of arms.

Cheers for info SD - well obviously Crawley think he can play at League One level so maybe it wasn't a bad shout to play him, anyway that chance has gone now as he's disappeared back to the future.

I wonder actually if the game will happen, given the flood alerts?

I like YV's suggestion...my only concern is Walker getting all this game time. If I'm not mistaken he was one of our main players that looked burnt out towards the end of last season...I think we should rest him whenever possible...he seems slow in reacting at times and all that makes me think he gets worn out quick...he does cover alot of mileage.

Now I can't think who would play there instead of him.

Surely Smith, as I suggested, unless he's injured.

I certainly wouldn't play Walker against Carlisle, I'd give him a rest.

I also doubt very much if Jake will be back for this one.

I'd have

Lloris

Naughton Dawson caulker verts/youth teamer

Thud siggy

Townsend Dempsy Bale (to be subd 60mins)

Ade

Depending on knocks etc with bale and Naughton. If jake and jenas are fit then I'd try n get them involved.

As far as I'm concerned he's fighting for his place, when Benny gets back he'll have to improve or get dropped so he can rest then. Plus he could do with finding a bit of form.

Are you suggesting that Naughton could take Walker's place as RB when he isn't needed at LB as otherwise I don't see how Benny coming back affects Walker.

Naughton is nowhere near the standard of Kyle Walker. He is poorer going forward, in fact Naughton just doesn't go forward, and he is no better at defending.

We haven't loaned out Adam Smith yet!

Walker played too many games last season, but so far this season he's looked out of sorts - he was solid against Lazio, but has been a liability in the PL games.
