2006 World Cup - Germany

German government reported $400 million extra spend from tourists over the month.
They made $3 billion more in retail sales, merchandise etc.
50,00 new short term jobs prior to the event.
15 million more tourists than expected during the tournament.

The 2006 World Cup had an operating budget, for staging the event, of €430 million (not including capital infrastructure spend).
German F.A. reported a pre tax profit of €135 million. After paying tax and FIFA their €40.8 million fee the German F.A. reported total profit at €56.6 million.

God bless those Germans and their fastidiousness regarding accounting.
(can anyone explain why in a recession it helps to host an event which costs you the best part of £5 billion?)
 
Because when we accepted the Olympics we weren't in recession <doh> so without the benefits of a fortune teller there was no way to know there was going to be a worldwide crash

Seabreeze the FAW are the be all and end all with regards to Welsh international players. They are the people who register the players and without being registered and given international clearance by the FAW these players would not be able to kick a football anywhere in the WORLD.
 
I like the clean shaven look down in my gentleman's log cabin, so for the past few years I've used a shaver. However the hair keeps growing back which means every 6 months I have to spend 20 minutes trimming again. As I'm sure you've realise this is valuable time I cannot waste. So I decided to get to the root of the problem and purchased this product.

Probably the first thing you will notice after using this product is the pain. Although as a man I lack the required experience, I'm going to estimate that using this product is at least eleven times more painful than childbirth.
Imagine sticking a rusty razor blade into your favourite eye, before tying your hands behind your back. Then imagine that you use the entrenched razor blade to slice open a raw onion. All the while being butt naked. This product is slightly more painful than that.

However if we ignore the blinding, crippling and debilitating pain I should point out that this product is remarkably effective. Before, all manner of organisms great and small lived down there, now nothing can grow; not even on a cellular level. Sadly this includes my genitalia; I've spent the last four hours staring fixedly at Carol Vorderman's arse, all to no avail. My tinkywinkleton hasn't even so much as perked up, so if my review seems a bit harsh, it's only because I wanted children.

The FAW being in charge of all that is part of the problem Mabon , try not to suddenly use it as the the foundation of your argument . These are the same people who made life difficult for Welsh club teams to go to Europe , they have there agenda too .

It is FIFA who made it difficult for welsh clubs to enter europe, its FIFA who make the rules not the FAW , cardiff and swansea are only associate members of the english league, this is because we trade within the borders of Wales which means that we are Welsh clubs and all Welsh clubs are affiliated to the FAW. For that to change we would have to trade over the border in england, cardiff and swansea would then be able to become full members of the english pyramid system and compete as english clubs, those are FIFA rules not the FAW's, and those apply to every country in world football. the only problem with this is that both clubs would have to move to england.
 
Football has no place at the Olympics, but then again, neither do plenty of other sports such as Tennis.

I've thoroughly enjoyed the outrage that Team GB has generated against the kind of genetically deficient, hate fuelled no marks who loathe the rest of the UK though. It's almost worth losing three players just for that.
