Wait, Japan v Uruguay is actually in Japan? Balls, usually they play them in Europe somewhere which wouldn't be quite so bad. On Wednesday as well so even less time to get back. Can't imagine either of those starting. Yep, I think Guly, with Puncheon on the bench.

Bench: Davis, Hooiveld/Maya, Cork, Davis, JRod, Isgrove/Gaston, Mayuka

Not sure if Maya and Gaston will even make the bench after the internationals and lack of pre-season games. If fit I'd slot Maya in there in place of Fonte. We cannot play Hooiveld and Fox together because that makes strange things happen. Cork misses out as cover for either RB or CDM if needed at some point in the game. Pochettino doesn't seem to favour Puncheon but he is one of our best goal threats. A fresh JRod with his direct runs in the second half could cause chaos.

Oh great idea, spend millions on a top international centre half and play him at left back?
Play people in their best position and bring in specialist replacements (even if they are not as those they are replaying)
If Luke isn't fit then we have no alternative at the moment but play Fox and if Clyne isn't fit then we play Chambers. Let's stop messing about

I hate to break it to you but he's not a top international centre half. Not yet, anyway.
 
I predict the following will be "not quite ready yet" next Saturday:

Clyne
Shaw
Ramirez
Mr X who will we sign this week
 
Don't think we will play Cork, Wanyama and Schneiderlin together because that's not been attempted in pre-season. Davis, Guly, Ramirez or Lallana have been in the CAM role. I think either Guly or Davis will get the nod based on recent performances

Only until Shaw's back. Do you want Fox playing?! I also had in the back of my mind that Fox got sent off in the home fixture and was at fault for WBA's second in the away fixture.

I don't really get the whole 'play ANYONE but Fox' concept. I know he's not great by a long chalk, but there's absolutely no point him being at the club if we follow that policy.
