Gaston had a dead leg after the Arsenal game, but not the same one according to Adkins. Nigel said he'd named him for the Chelsea game but Gaston declared himself not fit. He expects him and Clyne to be back for Villa game.

Don't know what to make of 'declared himself not fit'....wasn't Pahars known as a bit of a hypochondriac?
 
I'm just trying to imagine Jimmy Case or Glenn Cockerill ever declaring themselves not fit. Nope, wouldn't have happened.

Marion's injuries frequently seemed to be of the "phantom" kind that baffled science. Let's hope Gaston is not made of similar fragile stuff.
 
Chris Marsden's little legs never stopped, did they? I actually backed the winner of the 2003 Champion Hurdle (Rooster Booster) purely because one of his nicknames was "rooster". What a combination he was with Wayne Bridge.

Strachan had a genius for getting the best out of players that failed to really shine elsewhere.

With Mayuka now away and Adam presumably still crocked we are a bit short on attacking options. Wonder if he'll put Sinclair or Seager on the bench?

No he won't. Tadanari Lee and Ben Reeves will be there or there abouts I suppose. Calum Chambers will be ahead of them in the pecking order anyway.
 
Haha vg Don! Beginning to look like no signing in time for Saturday. Even if we were to sign some-one today or tomorrow they would have no training time with the squad. Let's hope Nigel has a master plan to deal with Benteke!.
 
We have a plan, we have Jos stepping in & hopefully stepping up. Things could be worse. We need cover, but we can't just throw someone in straight away, that could damage confidence & make things uncomfortable.
 
True HR but it's the cover or lack of that I'm concerned about. If something happens to Jos or Maya then its Seaborne, Martin or Stephens atm!

Maybe swap Punch & Cork around, although Clyne and Puch have a good partnership on the right. I am guessing Fonte/Lallana are out of Villa game.
