Well what can I say. Ha! What is the point of predicting a squad with players in that went don't actually have. Otherwise I would have gone. •Iker Casillas (Real Madrid) •Dani Alves (Barcelona) •Gerard Pique (Barcelona) •Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid) •Marcelo (Real Madrid) •Andres Iniesta (Barcelona) •Xabi Alonso (Real Madrid) •Xavi (Barcelona) •Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid) •Radamel Falcao (Atletico Madrid) •Lionel Messi (Barcelona) sorry and maybe this should be Lallana as he makes Messi look ****e! Oh wait that is the Fifa team of the year.
All I know is that I want to see JRod play this weekend, he's looking sharp and scoring goals. I also think he is our best bet of a player that can latch onto Ramirez's throughballs and flicks.
All Nigel needs to say is: "It's all about winning games of football" and they'll be fine! Alternatively, "Se trata de ganar juegos de fútbol" would do for all except Ronaldo and he speaks English and Spanish anyway.
I think the left wing position is the only position where we don't know who's going to play. It will be either Guly or Rodriguez. Personally I want Guly to start there but there is also a strong case for Rodriguez to start as well so I'm not too fussed who does start there. The reason why I want Guly to start is that Rodriguez could be very effective coming off the bench, and I'd rather see Rodriguez through the middle as well.
Think you have to start with a striker in form. Guly has been playing well but a long time since a goal. If you wanted a player to bury a chance early on it would have to be Jrod!
But to be honest, he has Robert Huth to thank for his goal against Stoke - he did all the hard work! And Puncheon set him up on a plate against Chelsea with a great pass.
Rodriguez's goal against Chelsea was pretty nice. Yes, he was set up nicely but it was a calmly struck, exceedingly well-placed finish. You probably should score on that, but a lot of times players don't. That was pretty much the exact sort of chance Guly has blown a couple times.
Villa's defence is looking decidedly creaky against Bradford..I wouldn't be suprised if Nigel goes for the jugular from the start and picks Rickie and JRod up top with Gaston and Punch out wide.
Bit harsh, it was a great first touch and that made his shooting chance with the outside of his right foot. It was a good pass, but the first touch made the goal.
Good run too. Lambert probably wouldn't have made that and got away from the defenders in the first place. Them goals don't score themselves.
Agreed...there's a reason we don't get many scoring opportunities where players are clean through, and it isn't because we lack passing ability.
Interestingly Villa were weak in the air tonight without Vlaar or Dunne at the back, so we may go back to the age old tactic of putting Lambert on the fullback & playing long diagonals. However, at St. Mary's it was the runs in behind by Mayuka & Puncheon that caused the most problems.
After seeing how Villa couldnt deal with Bradfords corners and crosses last night i think that we really do need Guly starting to put in good zippy balls - his corners have been really good when he has been playing lately.
