Not sure if you are on another wum or trying to be clever.
So I'll ask you to define proper supporters as opposed to the "Moany regulars".
Hi J8. I try not to wum, but maybe sometimes I do. I definitely try to be clever and at least sometimes succeed

The definitions are quite simple. Proper supporters back their team, preferably by singing, cheering, applauding and the like loudly and persistently. If for whatever reason a person feels s/he can't do that, well sometimes they could if they tried a bit harder, but if they really can't, then at least be quietly supportive and don't go round abusing our players, and moaning and groaning.
'Moany regulars' is simple, those people who regularly go the the Lane and regularly moan while they're there. The Lane's been cursed with them for the 50+ years I've been going, but seats exacerbate the problem, because if you're sat next/near to one you can't move away the way you could on the terraces.
It's also my impression there are more moaners than there used to be. They just drain the life out of the atmosphere and play a key role in making going to the Lane such a dull, drab and dispiriting affair so often these days.
Tonight is an 1882 night, now these are proper supporters. They 'sing for the shirt', back the players on the pitch and try to make the ground a livelier, louder place.
It's embarrassing how far we've fallen behind continental Europe in this regard.
At one time our crowds could match the Germans and others, no longer alas.
A key reason we never lost at home in Europe for well over 20 years till a one goal defeat by Real Madrid, was our crowd.. It sometimes used to be awesome on European nights, and was always louder than the away fans. No longer the case, it's embarrassing how often we're outshouted and outsung at home these days by the Continentals.
I hope this answers your question
