I have Sky and I always look forward madly to these televised matches, but then get more and more nervous as the day approaches. By kick off...I'm behind the sofa clutching a duvet ready to hide behind it. At dodgy moments I turn off the set because Chelsea will not score from a corner if the TV is off....fact!! The worst thing is that we are going to drop down the table before our game even starts.

Fran...I agree that watching Saints on TV isn't fun.
Without the release of tension by singing and cheering at SMS it builds up and up especially with my dear wife giving me grief for using certain words aimed at the ref!

Yes same here. Mrs L and the junior L's keep trying to tell me that the ref and players can't hear me but I don't believe them!

The only debate about our starting 11 is Lambert or Osvaldo. Watching other teams, they seem to have so much room in the last third, whereas we seem crampt and with no space to move. Its probably because of our press there can be 21 players in one half when we are attacking. So I am being boring and going with Osvaldo in the hope that his better agility against 2 pretty static CBs will pay off

They do it because if they do it well, the keeper commits his weight to one side, thereby making it almost impossible to dive in the opposite direction quickly enough. Although the rule for a penalty is that the keeper must not move from his position until the ball is kicked, there is leniency when the kicker is trying to get the keeper to move. Unfortunately, this allowance means that the keeper often moves in the wrong direction anyway.

Do it badly, and yeah, the kicker gets himself all twisted up and confused. His problem entirely.

I thought they'd changed that. The goalie can move all he wants as long as its lateral and not forwards. Have they changed the law back again and I've missed it?

Man, we can put a little bit of pressure on Jose this weekend.

Wait, wrong thread. I'll move them all.
