No surprises there! Let's hope he stays for a couple of seasons. Best manager this club has ever had.
We are all aware of PT's past achievments in the league and with England U 21's, not to mention what he did for Gills.
However in recent years, before he went overseas, his record has been less tham impressive. He got Wycombe promoted
from League 2, but then struggled in League 1 and was sacked (sound familiar?) He then failed dismaly (unlike Phil Parkinson)
to awake the sleeping giant that was Bradford. Can't remember if he walked or was sacked, but he left slagging off his players
saying many would be in non league the folllowing year.
I feel at 60 he is nearing the end of his managerial career. Interim? by all means. Permanent appointment NO WAY!
Still gets me how he walked away after taking us to the 2nd tier. I know and accept he saw out his contract but he bolted when someone waived a big wad of cash his way and left us in the lurch.

Really wish we would stop looking to the past and look for something for the future. Stability is needed.

Loved it when he was last here but apart from getting wycombe promoted then his record has been abysmal. I hope that im wrong as I like the guy but am not rating the chances high that he will do well.
Do none of you rate Cody either considering realistically he has only been Successful with us? Didn't hear much of that in the summer.
As an appointment, look at his credentials, it's a great one. He's an ex England manager, albeit on a short term basis. People forget we're close to the league 1 relegation zone, did you think sir alex would come out of retirement to manage us?!
This is great for the club, someone who in their single season with us took us somewhere we had never been, Pulis' team or not, he got us up, Tony didn't. Besides the team was actually worst on paper than the previous seasons squad.
He has always been my favourite manager of all time and I'm thrilled that that he's back.

Alwaysright that was my exact thought actually! Very strange indeed, well it would be if it was anyone other thanPS saying it!
I am hoping that if this is the permanent appointment then it will be a 2 man team with Peter Taylor as a director football with a younger man coming alongside him as first team coach (and not Hess!).
Agree Gemini. PT has a track record of quitting quit while he was ahead, particulary if he thinks not enough cash
available for next tier up. Apart from Gills, he did it to Brighton as well. Foolishly (by his standards) he stayed on at
Wycombe after promotion....and just look what happened.
Next appointment will be crucial for our immediate future. If Stimmo had the benefit of the 'other' Peter Taylor (Derby/Forest)
with his arm around his shoulder, maybe things would have turned out differently in 2009/2010. Should we consider a similar

My thoughts: Whoever Scally brought in would get my support the same as any other manager. The Chairman has had to act quickly because the team cannot be left without a manager. However, do I agree with the appointment, No. Do I want him as our long term manager No. And the same would apply to Hessy...new chapter, new beginnings I say, not same old, same old...we are supposed to be moving forward.
But I repeat, on Saturday, Peter Taylor will get my 100% support if not my agreement, so in the words of Gemini who's post I have just noticed above...interim 'acceptable', nothing more.

It`s a good choice for instant stability,and with Taylor being interim Manager it gives him a goal to do well and earn the job permanently.He is not my choice as Manager,but I will back him for as long as he is here,whether Weeks,Months,or Years.Hopefully we will see more Football being played,but Bradford and Wycombe fans say don't hold your breath as it was all hoof ball for them.At the moment there is not much risk as it is only temporary,and gives Scally a chance to look around should Taylor not get the job Full-Time.

Don't know why people are being so negative about Taylor. Yes, Allen's sacking stinks but I don't see who better we could get given our position.
Looking back? Quite right to mention Cody - no-one thought we were "looking back" too much on that one! Taylor's one year in charge of Gills was nothing less than sensational. I saw most games that season and we played BRILLIANT football, yes albeit with a team mainly built by Pulis. After a slow start, we picked up crazy-points and finished on 85 (2 more than we finished on last season as Champions), after that ridiculous backs-to-the-wall performance from Wrexham stopped us from grabbing auto promotion. We all know the rest.
Sure, our players now are nowhere near as good as back then, but for me our playing staff are easily good enough for mid-table League One. And if Taylor does end up being the permanent manager, I think he wll more or less achieve that league position.
Does not make the sacking right though.

I have to say I feel a bit worried about Taylor. I f you read other forums from teams that he has managed (i.e. Bradford and Wycombe in particular) they are not very complementary about the style of football he had them playing. Agreed, he was OK with us first time round, but maybe his philosophy has changed.
Time will tell
