Fer has been important to us in the roles he's been asked to play but he's never struck me as being 'fantastic' for us. I get your point though Roof, the boys done good for us. Good in some games, ok in most, but here's the rub, he's been non existent in a few too.

He's not consistent enough to take Siggys place at AM and when he did he was wanting imo. The success of most teams to a large extent depends on their AM and how effective he is. An AM is like a #10 in rugby or a QB in the CFL where a team attacks through them. A good AMs pulls the strings in attack and directs the direction and tempo of the game. Fer may be adequate as an AM but his lack of consistency marks him as 'ok' in that position and little more, imo. Fer fades to often for my liking to take Siggy's spot but, if Siggy did leave us then the job is his I imagine, simply because he can be good there, he can pick a pass but he also loses focus and gives the ball away too easily.

If I had to chose between Fer and Siggy at AM then I'd chose the reliable, inspirational, workhorse that is Siggy every game.
Tend to agree fer has had the odd good game and to be fair has got us some points. But in far to many games he has been lazy and just doesn't have the will to help out defensively when it matters. He is a luxury player and fine when you are on top. There is absolutely no fight in him and at the moment we need every player giving everything they have and unfortunately for me Fer just doesn't do this.

What wouldn't you give for that "one season " all over again ? <laugh>

We've now become inured to dross, and some have forgotten when it wasn't thus.

It does no harm to remind those with poor memories.

At this rate I'll take his second season over the crap we've had the past 12 months :)

Fer has done fantastic , his passing % is equal to Joe Allen , his aerial prowess is superior to most , he has more goals than Siggy and Fer is playing in various positions . Siggy's goals and assists come from taking corners , set pieces and penalties . If Fer ever gets hold of Siggy's position if Siggy goes , I think he will do a superb job . When you guys run Fer down you have no ammo just talk , when I talk Fer up , I do ....stats . Fer is 4.5 million of pure value and like I've said before , I worry far more about Llorente leaving than Siggy ..... for more than one reason

Roof, for the last time, Joe is on another level to Fer. As for Gylfi, just don't even go there <laugh>

Tom Carroll isn't a bad player and already knows the club but I don't think he'll improve the squad apart from add depth. I'd rather keep the £8m if it was £3-4.5m then I'd understand the transfer.

That's what I think everyone is staggered about 8m for not a bad lightweight MF player is ****ing scatty. But then that is the way our club is working at the moment.

If we do sign this guy from PSV, I think all we need is one CB and a CDM of real quality should lift the underperforming players.

TBH, Cork, Leon and Fulton are good options at CDM, especially if Makelele can rediscover Cork of 3 months ago. For me, 2 CBs a winger that goes straight into the side on the left and a back up striker, assuming Baston is going.

Do you what mate I don't think I would even for that money, Just don't think the guy will survive in the Championship next season, he will be far to flimsy in that league.

I agree. As I've said he's a step down from Leon, even at Leons age. If we are signing a midfielder, it needs to be a big, physical player.

We would then have at CDM/CM - Cork, Leon, Fulton, Ki and new signing with Fer providing back up to Gylfi.

I don't understand the Carroll signing/potential signing at all either.

Ya , the 13 million level ...... And Siggy's always gets the " Prime time and position " to work from , Fer takes what he gets on limited minutes and gets results in the air and scoring . You can all walk past his passing % , his Aerial superority and goals ... and the beauty assist to help get us more points against Palace . And the only deterent I ever here is not falling back enough in defence . With what he is responsable for with his very massive pluses , seems only the single minus of being a bit lazy fallin back in defence is the only thinsome people see . With all that he does , I don't want him playing any sort of defence whatsoever .
I guess Bony is on his to China valley , cause he can't get the minutes with Stoke . Good thing we didn't pay huge to bring him back I'd say .

But when you are not playing as an attacking MF you have a duty to defend and he simply doesn't,. You can put up all the % you want. It would appear that the managers didn't agree with you either as he is a bit part player and has been under the managers we had. if he put as much effort into his game as others I would maybe agree a little. it is no surprise he has been relegated twice and all of the fans at those clubs moaned about his lack of effort. there is no coincidence there.

He isn't a bad player but don't compare him to Siggy who gives everything as well as scoring and assisting.

Fer best would come from Siggy's position , if Siggy had to play where and how Fer did he wouldn't do much better in those positions IMO ...
