You have a point there Nacho. Add to that the vast improvement of Steel and Love for starters and you have to think that the coaching skills of Chris Coleman and his staff were much better than the previous regimes.

    Credit where credit is due...

Yeah I think he did a lot right, the days of listless disinterested players were gone under Coleman (and Grayson) and you can point at several players who were greatly improved, like Gibson.

It was just poor tactics and even worse goalkeepers that did for him, the latter wasn't his fault of course.

I've always thought that Cattermole gets more stick than is deserved. There were a few seasons when our win % was better with him in the team than when he wasn't. He only played 8 times in 2016/2017. I'm not a believer in the rotten core theory either. He could've chosen to leave on numerous occasions but didn't. Whatever you might think of his level of talent, he is loyal to the club - not one of the mercenaries.
Having said that, a new era is starting at the club and we need to wipe the slate clean. I thank him for his service over the last 9 seasons, but it's time to move on.

O'Shea and Catts to move on, loan players to leave (we've got 7 of them - quarter of our entire squad !), shoot Rodwell, sort out the contracts for the players that we want to keep, and we're left with an decent squad to build on.

Catts will always divide opinion. His strengths were first class but his weaknesses fell way short of the standard. But the last injury has done him at any level. too slow over a few yards to play cm, useless in any other position. His next club will be his last imo.

My pals (some are idiots) on Teeside have laughed at the people on here who rate him. Rae, Kavanagh, even Ball scored from central midfield. He has to be the worst since Jeff Whitley, but some rate him. Why ? On What ?

Bri its 6 games in a sh it league, risky for big bucks,You are SOOO right, if he stays fit till Jan window and stays injury free we will get our cash back plus. I can see Love nurturing into a player at this level. My team to follow... If we get lumbered.

It's what he's displayed in those games. A fit spell will let us see if he's consistent enough but the ability is clearly there to see. Just got feeling he is, especially at scoring goals as he's shown that instinct even in the few games under Moyes. I mean 7 in 23 for midfielder who has collected his appearances in a stop-start manner which has included a horrific injury is an excellent return imo

Bri , when fit he's my Bobby Moore, reads it passes lands at the edge of the box and creates. .......:Love him , if he stays fit, you're too young to remember Bobby Park, he was the pick of the litter from Hughes, Todd, Tueart and Kerr. some of the old lads may remember , but I shiver for Paddy and Duncan, Watmore, injuries happens so easy. Rowell was never the same after he hurt his knee against Orient or Jeff Clarke against Cardiff.... 2 of the best players Ive seen.

I did my cruciate so I know how the lads feel. I've just had two days laid up with the opposite knee as that's ****ed now because i walk with a slight twist because of the other knee, now I have two ****ed knees which give me bother constantly. Obviously, I didn't get the sort of treatment they get now so they can and often do come back as good. But it's no guarantee as poor Duncan has found out. But if they can recover fully, the nature of the injury hopefully will lead to having more time with them. I'm still excited by both talents. just hope they don't end up a sad story.

I think that side will win league one. **** anybody over 25 off. We can pick up experience in that age bracket for nowt and they'll have a **** load more apitite for the league then our wasters as it's their bread and butter. But we've got **** load of youngsters at this level. Few beefy older heads needed.

Bri.....life, what goes around comes around ! We pushed our luck and stayed up a couple of times, got 2 good players who got crocked and we are where we are, not managers etc. If Paddy and Duncan had stayed fit,(and we kept Grabben) we would have been in the Play Offs. As you have said, our resources /back up plan let us down.

Good looking team here <ok> and Asoro sounds as though he is up for another season, so I would add him to the striker role alongside Maja, they look good together imo, although we have not seen solid proof its just my hunch that it could work very well for us if it succeeded.
