No, it's not complicated provided we wear blinkers. But what if we bring the Universal Declaration of Human Rights into the debate?

Article 19.
  • Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.
I'm no legal eagle, but are there grounds whereby the owners of this website may say "though your information is correct and you do not contravene British law, you may not state it here"? Isn't that censorship and a breach of a person's rights? I can readily see your point, but people's names, their date of birth and their parents' names is not private information. Neither are their addresses. It is all available to the general public, not least here on the internet. Wouldn't it be more civilized to censure people for being abusive or offensive to each other while hiding behind pseudonyms? Isn't that the reason behind the policy of not disclosing the information to which you object in the first place?

Of course, in practical terms if you prevent someone from posting on here they'll probably not contest it. Maybe next time I'm near Hyde Park I'll start a barney about freedom of expression.

This is like a 'private club' with it's own rules ...

Universal Declaration of Human Rights - where it does apply if we are a signatory (like the ECHR) only applies to government agencies (or their appointees)

God why do people hide behind that freedom of speech bullshit? You're free to say whatever you like, it doesn't prevent recrimination once you've said it. It's why most people use common sense and don't just shout whatever springs to mind. I say most, bit of a misnomer, maybe around 5% of the country.

Glad to see the reaction of others to Bunkers' bullshit. Is there ANYONE out there who thinks his point is valid? I think it's utterly barking.

Patty will be along soon...

Ye i must admit i like it when posters like Bunkers Bengals etc start acting like spoilt children. Fascinating psychologically. Mature posters for the most part, get told off or to "play the game" and whoosh. Yes there are rules but they dont apply to me, I'm special, its a stupid game, i hate you all, be my friend, olm's a bully etc etc

Not looking to progress this but I find your stance inconsistent. A few weeks ago you posted a 'Lads Laff' about a named footballer's partner being shagged by your mate. That was easily traceable and potentially damaging, if true (or not). She, nor her partner chose to use this board, but her anonymity wasn't respected, why? I asked for it to be deleted, nothing more, no action against you, just a simple deletion and this was ignored by all concerned. I do find the values on here confusing at times.

I really do find the sense of entitlement amongst baby boomer ****s quite startling. I absolutely must have free speech. And you lot can shut the **** up if you disagree.

If you want to continue posting on here, you'll have to follow the rules like everyone else, if you don't like the rules, don't post, it really is that simple.

Well for one, they don't know who I am. My real name isn't Sterling Archer, they're hardly going to trace it back to me and in the unlikely event that they ever did find out (he's no longer with the girl in question, by the way, it was years ago) my mate told me about it, he doesn't know who my mate is anyway. I mean it's a pretty tenuous link isn't it? Footballers live in the limelight, things like that are going to come out, it's part and parcel of being a footballer I'm afraid. It's all fine when we're sat discussing Jimmy Bullard doing coke in Weir bar at 3am, like that's natural, but I post something a bit risque and you try get it deleted? What's going on? Where do you draw the line; should we not discuss Campbell's dad because it's his family and it's really mean to slag him off (even if he is a ****er)? Should we just be totally PC on the off chance that Paul Duffen might pop onto the board and have his feelings hurt? Consider the nature of the sport, how much goes into the media and then what I put, hardly comparable is it? Is mine slightly more edgy because it hits a little closer to home? Maybe, I don't know.

The problem in question here is that OLM's name was used, the whole point of a forum is that you can choose to remain anonymous (unless you're Peter or Roo and you use a pic of yourself in your avatar, in which case you pay your money you take your choice). If people start giving out names, they can be traced etc. It's obviously a simple rule that should be followed, Bengal dropped a bollock by using OLM's name and that's why he's getting slammed for it.

I think a ban is pretty harsh to be fair (I know it's the rules, but like many an Apple licence agreement, he probably hasn't read them), he's pissed me off at times but let's be honest, everybody get's on everybody's tits on here, we hate each other really, why change a good thing? We're a set of onorous, miserly, pessemistic bus ****ers, but we're happy. Like the Waltons, but on a council estate in Boothferry.

Good night clown shoe. Good night arsecunt.

Good night Bob. "**** off ****."

I did warn Bonkers about what he was doing but no, he had to start singing "My Way"!
You've just ruined my day Sterling, I thought that was your real name but I will let you into a secret, my real name is NOT 'Tiger Roo'.
Bonkers was going to "out" me anyway so I might as well tell you that my real name is Frank Ifield (yes, the one and only) and I have just released a record with the Sex Pistols called "I Remember You, You Arsecunt"!<laugh>

Well as it happens, shortly after I signed up to this craphole of a website I regretted it. I asked the admin people to delete my account, and they ignored me, so here we are.

Perhaps I should try again ... publicly ... ADMIN, PLEASE DELETE MY ACCOUNT, AND ALL THE DETAILS YOU HOLD ABOUT ME.

Bye folks, have fun.
