I did wonder if it could go down the pedestrian part of King Edward Street, Victoria Square and then on Queens Gardens, but it would still need to be much smaller than it is now.
 
Is there any interest in the club to want such a massive development or is this just people assuming these things

In December, Birmingham has the German Christmas market (as well as food markets) with great success. Would it be a viable option to use a similar setup, for example, Albion St car park for the big rides, Queens gardens for the small ones, George St/Bond St/King Edward St as the market stall areas?

Allam wanted to buy it and do something useful with it. HCC won't allow it. They'll never sell any of the potential of that area, it seems to suit them better to keep it as it slowly decays. And blame everyone else.

It's such a shame.

For our football club, the next best thing is to move. Thats not good for the City though.

And yet some still refuse to lay the blame at the feet of those responsible for this awful standoff, and lack of future potential, HCC.

No Allam didn't want to buy it. He wanted the council to give it to him along with all the land surrounding it. Muppet

You can't compare a fair in Warwick or Birmingham with Hull Fair. It's the largest in Europe for **** sake. I can't see anywhere else in the city boundary that could hold a fair of this size. The best suggestion that has come on here was the one suggesting tarmacing the fairground and closing it for the week the fair is on. But then again this would prevent anything been built on it
 
I find it absolutely astonishing that a potential development area, which is in dire need of investment to breath life into it, is put on hold because a bunch of pykies descend on us for one week of the year, this HCC council need their heads examining. I suspect however if the like of Adam Pearson (or similar diplomatic sort) approached them and discussed `improvements` in the area then they would probably go for it, alas Mr Allam has burned bridges which shall never be rebuilt while he holds the purse strings for City

I've already said, Pickering Park is big enough and you don't really need to tarmac anything, I just checked Nottingham Goose Fair, which is the biggest travelling fair in the UK and it's on grass.

It's located on a recreation ground.Back in the '60's when I was a student in Nottingham the aftermath for the pitches was pretty horrendous.Looking on google earth there seems to be a large car park now and perhaps this is where the heavy equipment and lorries are accommodated.

I'm sure East park is even bigger than Pickering park.....
They really is no excuse why it can't be moved.... Other than the councils reluctance to embrace change!!

Publicly Adam Pearson got on with the council. Privately he was frustrated by their lack of action and support to do anything with the area. He definitely tried to get them moving.

Oh ok - I grew up near there & remember it was massive with around 10 football pitches. I haven't been there for 30 years so it must be my failing memory !!!

East park probably has 3 to 4 times more usable space than Walton Street, and the stalls that line walton street could easliy line the many roads and pathways through east park. The problem is a) its grass and football/egg chasing pitches in the main, and b) the large rides arrive often a couple of weeks before hand, so all in all around 3 to 4 weeks of disruption possible.
And lastly c), the NIMBIES around there have bigger more expensive houses than Anlaby road, so would kick up an almighty fuss.

I live near East Park, Alderley...., its not changed much in 30 years.
They have built a new animal enclosure which is great, near where the old Lido used to be if you remember that.
The splash boat is back open, went on that last year. What is striking is how narrow the steps are up and down, there were no twats with fat arses when they built that.
