Micky Gray has hinted on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT on 27th April, that a takeover bid is close to going through at Sunderland.

Although Gray confirmed he was not part of a bid to own Sunderland, he did suggest that he had information that exciting news was in the pipeline.

When asked about a potential takeover of Sunderland, Gray said: “There’s light at the end of the tunnel. There is going to be a bit of excitement at the club in the next two or three weeks. That’s all I can say about it right now, but I'm quite excited about it.

"It's a plan, it's not going to happen over night. It’s something to look forward to.”

Ellis Short has been trying to sell Sunderland for a considerable amount of time now, but has failed to find a buyer to date.

The news that Sunderland could be taken over soon is sure to cause delight at the Stadium of Light though.

Short has been criticised for a lack of investment, as Sunderland have slipped all the way down to League One.

The Black Cats are in urgent need of leadership now, and it seems that they could finally have new ownership in the near future.

If Sunderland’s takeover does go through, current boss Chris Coleman is expected to remain in charge, despite their relegation into League One.

Well wonder what the exciting news will be - or is it just Micky Gray spreading clickbait?

I like Gray but unless he's talking directly to Short and knows exactly what he'll agree to with the takeover then as far as I'm concerned it means nothing. We already know that people are trying to buy the club but it's all down to what Short wants.

Agree with every word mate - but trying to find a sliver of light in the doom!

South Shields F.C. won the league after winning 4-0 at Radcliffe on tuesday, then moved onto 100 points tonight by beating Kendal Town at home 5-0 . . . . and it was mint :emoticon-0100-smile

The last match of the season is at home against Colne on sarrada, which should be very enjoyable with an atmosphere that will be much better than what we've become used to . . . . reminiscent of days gone by for us, perhaps :emoticon-0105-wink:

If only the good news was about S.A.F.C. :emoticon-0106-cryin
Gordon,
Used to go and watch Shields when I lived in South Tyneside around the time they got the floodlights from Roker Park when Sunderland had to upgrade theirs for the 66 World Cup.
Nice to see them on the up.

This Charley Hurley deal is supposedly going to write off a chunk of the debt.

Putting 2 and 2 together and making 5, maybe a deal is in the works and getting rid of some of our debt to rbs is part of process?

I'm not sure what connections Micky has now with the club but I'll try and be optimistic.

Anyone know about TUPE (transfer of undertaking)ie cancelling of all contracts and new owners employing who they want, to the exclusion of Rodwell. This may make a take over more attractive and create a nice transfer kitty for CC. Just a thought.

Doesn't that protect employees from being sacked?

Yes but if the decision is made not to transfer undertaking how would that be legally then other players whos wages we contribute to would be cleared also. Not sure where we would stand?
