On another matter, If LB retains control of the Pub, It'll be closed by Xmas.

Even in the close season - you can always count on our beloved Watford to keep the stress levels up.

From the 'fishul site statement it looks like Baz has played his last card and that grown-ups are now in charge. Thankfully.
 
I think I will have to mark the 22nd June 2012 as a special day on my calendar. In all of the 60 years I have followed the Hornets, I cannot remember anything that quite compares with today. Alright if there was news of this nature going on behind the scenes we didn't know about it in those days. There were no computers, no mobile phones, no on-line news, no social networking sites. There might be rumours going around that were discussed in the pubs, but then I was too young to know.

In those days we had to wait for the West Herts Post on a Thursday, or the Watford Observer on a Friday for information and even then most of the news was agreed to by the club and newspaper. The extraordinary goings on today would never have been commited to print.

Having said that there were not the financial pressures on the club that there were today. Yes even in those days we lost money every season, had to sell players to survive, get the Watford rabbit Breeders to chip in some cash and rely on Benskins when the going got really tough, but I don't remember owners who were reputed money men coming along hoping to make a profit.

It is a different world, yet somehow WFC is still here. My suspicion is that it has come very close to disappearing several times in recent years and I can only hope that things are about to improve.
 
What a mess he's caused. Let's hope it goes through, he has not conducted himself with dignity in fact the complete opposite. If he goes at least he's left us in an ok situation, despite being a complete concha.

Dangerous times. All the players we have been linked strongly with Tomasz Kuszczak, James Collins and even Frank Nouble have been lost because of this silliness. We might be reduced to wishing for Tommy Smith and Heidar Helguson to return and off loading Adrian mariappa as quickly as possible now, and at a stupidly low price.

I take myself out of the loop for something like sixteen hours (and for eight of those I was asleep), and miss all this. By law, we are obliged to take Bassini's claim a week ago that he has adhered to the terms of the bondholders' agreement as being accurate at that time, unless proof of the contrary exists and becomes available.

But I was very surprised to see Frank Smith use the word "removed" in this article, and even more surprised to re-read it this morning and see that it has not been changed.

That would seem to contradict the terms of the bondholders' agreement:

The Secured Bonds are subject to a standard set of events of default (“Events of Default”) including non-payment, cross-default and insolvency. The termination of the appointment of Julian Winter, Graham Taylor, Stuart Timperley or David Fransen as a director of Watford Leisure or the Club also comprises an Event of Default. The occurrence of an Event of Default allows any Bondholder to declare his Secured Bonds immediately due and payable.​

As little sleep as I would lose if Bassini ends up losing money, the ideal scenario for the club is that this is wrapped up quickly, even if that means him profiting. For us to go into the transfer window (1st of July) in limbo would be unfortunate. For us to start pre-season training without Dyche having a good idea who he will be able to sign and when would be a disaster.

I just wonder and hope if Humpty Dumpty has been outflanked and is left with nowhere to go.. but the red lion !
 
I'm happy for this deal to go through as I think it is the best thing for the club in the long term.
That said I would love to know whether the Bondholders have engineered this position that Bassini is in as they were offered a better deal and Bassini was just nieve & outmanouvered. Or was it needed because of his inept management & the Bondholders need to act in the best interests of the club?
Will we ever know the whole story? Unlikly.
GT was clearly tipped off to get out at least for the timebeing while this was all played out.
