Blimey..I feel this is going to run and run.

Hope it doesn't affect us being able to bring in new players.

Not quite what you wanted Aberdeen, but this has been doing the rounds. <laugh>

For us to go into the transfer window (1st of July) in limbo would be unfortunate. For us to start pre-season training without Dyche having a good idea who he will be able to sign and when would be a disaster.

If this takeover goes ahead, I get the impression that that will not be an issue:

1) Dyche will not be with us anyway;
2) Zola will already have been primed as to which players he will have at his 'disposal';
3) We can expect a mix of current players retained (anyone's guess who) and Italian/Spanish loanees. Although limited in numbers, our record with Italians and Spaniards is somewhat disastrous. :(

I'm not entirely convinced that the whole business is really going to be a good thing for us............

I am somewhat cautious about all this. I'm not sure why it is they want to buy us. If they are going to treat us like Granada then they have my qualified support, but if they only want us for our academy that may not be so good for WFC in the long run.

Clearly we had to get rid of Baz after his recent performance, but I'm not sure the take-over is necessarily in the long term best interest of WFC. It is not as if a new SEJ has arrived.

Right, I'm off to bed. I don't want another night like last night, which must have been one of the strangest in all the years I've followed WFC.

Morning all

Some sun some cloud today. Coffee and Saturday Guardian could see me through until lunch. I can't feel much other than "let's wait and see" about the takeover, though I think we'll all be glad to see the back of LB. Don't expect he'll be putting in the hours behind the bar in the Red and Yellow Lion.

Perhaps the problem is that the Pozzo's bank with Natwest! Would explain the supposed lack of proof of funds ;-)

Those of you with reservations about the takeover - how did you feel when you heard bassini say the deal was off, did it crystalise your emotions when faced with the possible alternative of impending doom.

One other thing is clear from last night is that Baz will only get out of the deal what the Bondholders want him to get and no more. He has absolutly no say in it at all now.

I take myself out of the loop for something like sixteen hours (and for eight of those I was asleep), and miss all this. By law, we are obliged to take Bassini's claim a week ago that he has adhered to the terms of the bondholders' agreement as being accurate at that time, unless proof of the contrary exists and becomes available.

But I was very surprised to see Frank Smith use the word "removed" in this article, and even more surprised to re-read it this morning and see that it has not been changed.

That would seem to contradict the terms of the bondholders' agreement:

The Secured Bonds are subject to a standard set of events of default (“Events of Default”) including non-payment, cross-default and insolvency. The termination of the appointment of Julian Winter, Graham Taylor, Stuart Timperley or David Fransen as a director of Watford Leisure or the Club also comprises an Event of Default. The occurrence of an Event of Default allows any Bondholder to declare his Secured Bonds immediately due and payable.

As little sleep as I would lose if Bassini ends up losing money, the ideal scenario for the club is that this is wrapped up quickly, even if that means him profiting. For us to go into the transfer window (1st of July) in limbo would be unfortunate. For us to start pre-season training without Dyche having a good idea who he will be able to sign and when would be a disaster.

IIRC there was also a clause about how the transfer monies received were spent - maybe he has contravened this clause as well.

"Kevin Affleck ‏@affers1178

Shaping up to be pivotal week in history of ‪#watfordfc‬. With wages due this week, something has to give."

Pretty self explanatory I'd say.

Well it certainly was a dramatic day yesterday, and it appears that it is good news regarding the takeover. The fact that Bassini has sent out his statements via the Watford Obsever has opposed to the official Watford FC website indicate clearly that Bassini is now seperate from the club. How and why that has occurred may never become clear.

Hopefully this takeover can be concluded and we can move on soon. I just feel the takeover will be good for the club. The Pozzi's clearly have a good pedigree in running a football club, and under Baz I can't help feel that this club would continue on a downward spiral
