ohhh yeah Mick would you possibly be able to make your aatar visible on the home page for visitors who may have questions to ask ??
I think once there's a decent team of proper moderators in place, the WUMming will die down. If there's someone always there to delete their crap before it gets the attention they crave, they'll shrivel and die like a willy with a particularly unpleasant tropical STD.
Excellent idea having the 'swear filter' for those of us who want to discuss football in a civilized manner. Pity about the unfortunate content of a certain team in the Championship though
Age has no relevance. As you are obviously not able to see the bigger picture allow me to explain why I think a filter is necessary, I have been using the 606 boards for many months and if there was no moderation the boards would turn into a huge flame war within hours, its not just the swearing that needs to be moderated there are lots of things that are against the T&C's that could lead to prosecution if left visible, I am sure the forum owners do not want to go down that particular route and as have shown in the thread are going to do something about it. I hope this has helped you understand the problems they face and the reason i called for a filter.
We were a small community here who all knew each other and dare say it not easily offended, now that there are thousands of new people we need to have a few rules to stop it descending into chaos - but I still think I want it to be as liberal as possible, having a few backseat moderators on every board and the optional swear filter should hopefully cut out most of the crap.
I agree. If there is one thing 606 has taught me, its that you can have a good debate/arguement without having to swear. If you have to resort to foul language then you have lost the arguement in my opinion - I don't think its a question of freedom of speach, I think it's a question of class
So when do people sign-up does it goes straight to no-swearing? I hope people don't notice the swear option
Mick is sorting out all the team boards to allow self-moderation. The original posters all pretty much use the General board and aren't at all offended by the swearing. Why not leave the general board as it is for us that like it and moderate your own team's board. That way everyone is happy. If you don't like the swearing on the general board then stick to the team boards. Simples.
