there is no ads going up, the only case for maybe ads is if server costs get too great - but I'll hopefully be able to raise cash for that through voluntary donations. I just bought a 70 quid a month dedicated server and the thing is under pressure already, shopping around for a much more powerful one now.
I dont mind ads as long as they dont take over the page, I always hated the 606 lay out and much prefer this one, if we have to suffer a few ads to keep it running so be it.

Why do people go out there way to feel offended? Clearly, if Mick wants the forum to thrive, which I think he does judging by the effort he's put in, then the swear filter will come into being very shortly, but for heavens goodness, it's only words. People who get offended by words are the reason this country is going to hell in a wheelbarrow

Liverpool fan just post on aunty606 agreeing with the swear filter and his user name is A SWORD MADE OF HASH.The guy clearly has his own filters and I surprised he knows when people are swearing and when their not!
Hi Mick, Great work so far, the optional swearing is a top idea.. a lot of us Hull City 606ers have moved over en masse already.. as long as we keep the cross club banter tradition of aunty's 606 and keep it friendly it will be a hit I'm sure.. Do ads by all means if you need to raise money as long as they're not nasty pop ups types.. the ones on vital at the side are ok..
Could go down the other route and put in a paypal donation box too maybe so you can get money for your servers? I'm sure a lot of people won't begrudge you a pound or two for your good work!
I'm very keen for this not to be seen as a personal money grab, it will undermine the integrity of what I'm trying to achieve. I'll probably have a voluntary donation button to help with the server costs eventually but maybe wait until people know me and trust me before I go cap in hand.
One way to do it is to make all donations public and tell people what you spent it on, but anyway we appreciate what you're doing, the week started badly with the 606 and now its ending nicely here, thanks for welcoming us all over and helping make it a nice site to use.
no probs I've managed to find a more powerful server for the price of the current one so costs are not spiralling yet, just waiting for them to get back to me and let me know it's been configured so I can get going - hopefully that will get rid of the laggyness and encourage more to join.
