He could do all of those things in Spain. Which is why I think that, in his mind, he's already on the plane home.

I have to disagree. he wasn't exactly brilliant in spain. I could name 20 young keepers in world football better than De Gea, who Fergie should have targeted, and would probably have been a lot cheaper.

yeah thats funny coming from an arsenal fan but De gea did have great games, he is one of the best shot- stopper in the league its just the handling of the crosses in to the box and he needs to bulk up

Yes he has potential but right now in big games. We have to play Lindergaard. He's not ready.

I'm sorry, but Wojcech Szczesny is in another league to David de Gea. Szczesny is made to look bad (on occasion) by piss poor defending, De Gea doesn't have that excuse, he is just piss poor. You want me to run through young keepers better than De Gea?

    Bernd Leno (leverkusen)
    Oliver Baumann (Freiburg)
    Wojcech Szczesny (Arsenal)
    Tim Krul (newcastle)
    John Ruddy (Norwich)
    Thibaut Courtois (Atletico Madrid)
    Ali Ahamada (Toulouse)
    Ron Zieler (Hannover)
    David Stockdale (Fulham)
    Simon Mignolet (Sunderland)

I can name many more if you like.

    The guy cost 18m

You dont spend 18m on a player you have to develope yourself, if you hacve to buy a keeper and train him for 4 years he costs 3m 4m not fkn 18m.

I am not slating De Gea, keepers have shockers, no big surprise there, it is how they deal with mentally that makes the difference,

What I am getting at is that Fergie was a tool paying that much cash for a keeper that is far away from being the finished article.

ANd there is no guarentee he will make it even after 4 years

I think the issue with De Gea at the moment is communication. When the VDS or Schmeichel was in nets, they were constantly yapping at the back four, keeping the defenders on their toes and alerting them to what is going on around them (which maybe nothing). Liverpool's second goal may or may not happened if either of them were playing, as they might have told Evra he was marking thin air, but then again Evra should have known better.

And as several people have pointed out, De Gea is young in goalkeeping terms and he will screw up but will get better (whether it is in England is debatable). And lets not forget the following have also dropped proper ones during their careers. Schmeichel, VDS, Seaman, Chec, Lehmann, Reina and just about every other keeper.

Oh and don't forget, Manuel Neuer was the next bestest keeper ever. Not quite happened yet.

At the risk of stating the the bleeding obvious, only time will tell.

What part of "I am not slating De Gea" dont you get!?

I was a keeper, I've had games like that, I'm not that tall and am about the same weight\height as De Gea. I had torrid times with big CFs because my CBs couldnt keep em off me at set pieces. I know his pain all too well, I am saying he is a prospect not an 18m finished article keeper and is a risk, thats all, De Gea was left to deal with Carroll while agger was allowed a free header 5 yards out, there you have it, all the mistakes after that were shot nerves from again having no proitection.

Anyone else thin having a nervy goalkeeper in such a nervy tie was a mistake, without hindsight of course?

This is a default 'plastic' manc response, ignore the points and throw a comparison when you got fk all else.

I actually put in a bit of a defence of De Gea tbh if anything.

And yes Carroll has not lived up to 35m tag, but anyone can see that, anyone can also se that 15m of that was the lateness of the transfer and the fact it was Jan and he was important to Newcastle at the time. He wasn't rated 35m as a player, the deal cost us that because of a few things not just his worth, them knowing we just got 50 for Nando too possibly and knowing we had new owners with a bit of cash.

So what wa sit you said again about 35m? I forgot already

    LOL

So if Rooney became available, you're saying Kenny wouldn't like to partner him up with Suarez?

Of course, if you're talking about his private life then you might have a point, but as a footballer he'd walk into any team in the PL.

Noone is saying he is too short or too small, the mexican Campos was it? anyone? very good but tiny keeper. Had a hell of a leap on him though.

Keeper does not need to be massive and even peter hand his faults. vDS, great keeper great career but made howlers worse than anything De Gea did yesterday, it is just harder for keepers now with this things they call footballs that fly all over the place.

It all boils down to him not being worth anywhere near 18m on current showings. I have not said much else and don't judge a player over 10 15 20 games like you lot have pretty much summed up carroll downing adam henderson ect ect, yet when the shoe is on the other foot blamo, you dont like us saying he's crap when he has been:)

So I guess you're somebody who doesn't have sky and only watches MOTD? David Luiz has been Chelsea's best player since we played Valencia (since United got knocked out of the CL).

    De Gea lol
