From the Bournemouth forum <laugh>

“Then came a game changing foul. Scott slide in a cleaned out Xhaka for as yellow card an offence as you’ll ever see. The ref obliged but the crowd were absolutely baying for a straight red that was never going to come. Despite getting the call right, the abuse from the sidelines seemed to flick a switch in the official for the rest of the match. Having been pretty even-handed up until that point, the rest of the match was as one-sided a ref performance as you’ll see.

Maybe still unsettled after misjudging that tackle, Scott compounded the error a few minutes later. He put in an unnecessary and needless challenge in the area that the attacker was begging for and, as soon as he felt Scott near him, collapsed to the ground. Penalty given.”

My answer to that Bournemouth fan would be shut the **** up!

Xhaka is an absolute born leader. He's a cracking player as well, but what a captain to have of our team. Definitely going to be a head coach/manager when he retires.

Massive thank you to KLD for bringing him in.
It's seems like we've been saying for a while that the lads needed a proper captain, a Kevin Ball type, to grab the game by the scruff of the neck and get the extra 5% out of his teammates. Nobody's saying that now!

That's the closest comparison I can make as a captain. Bally got extra % from his teammates but (with respect to Bally) Xhaka is a much better footballer as well. When xhaka won that freekick late on and got the East stand going I was saying to the bairn "look at him, he fooking loves it" <laugh>.

This, from their forum, had me laughing <laugh>

“Feck Sunderland and their cheating tactics, the referee waves away a clear dive from their player when he should have been booked, they commenced theatrics all over the pitch, they got away with handball, the ball went out and was blown back in when it should have been our throw they got a corner. It was constant not giving decisions to us and giving them stuff for diving. Awful refereeing. Awful fans. Awful result, again we were the far better team with nothing to show for it.
They were a bunch of fscking cheats, throwing the ball on to disrupt and waste time.”

Bournemouth were canny going forward. Their players were moaning fkn cheating w*nkers.
The referee lost control.
Who gives a flying one. We won. 3 points. 4th. Yeef*ckinghaw.

Wasn't expecting that kind of match mind!

It felt unfair being 2-0 so early on, although their second goal deserves credit as it was a good one. Proud of the lads for battling on in horrible weather conditions and managing to bag all three points. They all worked well together and the team work paid off.

Thought the ref lost the plot at times. Also noticed he got in the way of our passing more than once which was frustrating.

I cannot accept their 2nd goal was a good one. It was a complete fk up by us. So frustrating

It's strange how people see the same game of football differently. I said at full time, "two decent teams today but we deserved the win. Bournemouth are a horrible dirty team, but to be honest I wish that we had more of a nasty streak to our game." No one agreed with me and just said they were a set of dirty bastards :emoticon-0102-bigsm:emoticon-0102-bigsm
I need to read up on what's a foul and what isn't, that ref was very poor today and close to losing control.

“The Sunderland side that got promoted through the Championship play-off final cost less than £10m to assemble, it had finished a distant 4th in the Championship... it was filled with players signed in League One.

To rebuild an entire first team squad, land a number of players with serious European experience and lead them to 22 points after 13 games...

Beating Chelsea and Bournemouth and taking points off sides including Arsenal, Villa and Palace along the way...

I genuinely think it's one of the most impressive feats of recruitment I've seen in my lifetime”
