Not tipping this merely making the observation that Couer De Lion’s half-brother LISP makes his hurdling debut at Fonters (12.55 ) of the morrow. He didn’t exactly set the world alight in 3 runs, on the level, for Barrington’s boy but you wouldn’t be sectioned if you concluded that given his lineage timber could, perhaps, see a different horse (Coeur De Lion rated 142, in the NH sphere, and his dam was a multiple winner for the forum’s favourite trainer, Mr Henderson, God bless him and save him). Tomorrow’s heat though does look well, well above average as it features a horse who was rated 90 on the Flat, a Gary Moore juvenile who is 2/2 in the Isle and Lisp’s own stablemate who is owned by Mr Ponsonby, the forum’s 2nd favourite owner. As I say am not backing Lisp but one of huge interest, methinks, and will certainly be looking out to see how he fares on his hurdling debut.
Faugheen and Vroum Vroum Mag still both entered in the Morgiana .............................. history dictates that one of the two will be withdrawn between now and post time.
I fancy William h Bonney in the greatwood. I saw him win in good style at HQ back in January but never stepped up after. Most of his best form has soft in it and with the conditions tomorrow bottom weight and 5lb claimer could be a surprise winner. Cloudy dream looks good value also.
EW Lucky 31 for me today: 1:15 Cheltenham - Atlantic Grey 12/1 2:05 Fontwell - Coolking 11/1 2:25 Cheltenham - Cloudy Dream 10/3 3:00 Cheltenham - Chesterfield 14/1 4:00 Cheltenham - Skidoosh 11/2
The conditionals race at HQ looks fascinating two for me Oski for Ben case probably has the best form and I'm also liking cottersrock for Martin keighley .both will go on the ground and the claimers taking off weight will help. Cheers.
2:25 Cloudy Dream 7/2. Take a chance that this mega consistent horse can catch the fav cold. Don't think the ground will be much of a problem either. Some may disagree but just think the Tizzard horses aren't firing at the moment, compared to this time last year. Fancy taking on Fox Norton first time out this season. 4:00 Vocarium 4/1. Has run well in bumpers over in Ireland, think that form could be better than the English horses. The Mullins mare he was behind last time went on to win a listed race, wasn't beat far by that. Has experience over the field and a good jockey booking. Singles and double.
Morning all. EW Sunday patent. Icario @ 7/1 12.30 Punchestown looks far from straightforward but a low weight further reduced by jockey claim may just help him get over the line in front. Morney Wing @ 12/1 in the Southern National at Fontwell. Won the Sussex National well at Plumpton in January and gets in here carrying less weight. Can't help but think this has been the target. Nietzsche @ 11/1 in the Greatwood at Cheltenham. Good performance at this year's festival and I think the softer conditions here maybe in his favour together with a featherweight and an excellent claimer. Good luck everyone.
Well the other one has been withdrawn that has surprised me. I wasn’t expecting to ever see Faugheen back on a racecourse again. Loses today and that might be it
It will be very interesting to see how fit Faugheen looks today. Willie has said in the past he takes a lot of getting fit and I remember seeing him prior to the Morgiana 2 years ago (his only defeat to date when beaten by Nichols Canyon) and thinking "look at the fecking size of him". That day Nichols Canyon looked an absolute picture, lean, honed and coat gleaming, whereas Faugheen looked like he'd just come back from his summer break. If he looks like that again today he is definitely worth taking on and it could open the door for Jezki to grab a final Grade 1.
3.50 Fontwell- Goring One- 7/1 The owners race, the horse is in tip top shape, needed its re appearance, the stables favoured jockey on board will like the ground has everything in his favour!
I'm not saying they are the same person, but they have never been seen in the same room. Is Barry Humphries really Nicky Henderson?
Lisp ran a nice race on debut despite pulling the jockey's arms out for the first mile. Very keen, he had little left to offer at the business end of the race but if he can be taught to settle he could make a very nice juvenile hurdler.
Granny Biddy in the next at Cork 7/4 with Bet365 In the 3.00 Cheltenham I think I'll go for Tigris River ew at 11/1 and the 4.00 Air Navigator ew at 5/1, based purely on pedigree and running green on debut. Not studied these much
North hill Harvey what a lovely horse. I tipped him at this meeting last year and the other week. He's looking like a lovely chaser. I'm on shelford.
