Morning

5.25 Salisbury-Open Wide @ 9-2 [Paddy Power]

Like the jockey booking of Jim Crowley

Friend of mine is off to Donny and asked me for any tips so if anyone wants to let me have any, my conscience is ok with stealing them, passing them off as my own and taking full credit for them.

Will be very keen on Mark Johnstons only runner on the card, has had two runs already against a field of newcomers today and with the extra furlong to suit should be up to winning this. Has a very good jockey on board too with W Buick. Quduraat looks the danger but AUSSIE VIEW for me in the second @ 10/3.

Looking forward to that game mate. Should be a good one

Hope so mate - I found the matches yesterday a little disappointing (actually what I would expect for the opening group games - quite cagey. I guess Spain - Portugal was the mother of all exceptions <laugh>). On paper today should be good, I think Serbia could have a decent tournament so looking forward to seeing them. Then Germany - Mexico which should be very entertaining (unless Germany get an early goal to get their tails up) and finally Brazil who almost always entertain.

Beware of Johnston & Godolphin, both bang out of form at the moment

Two desperately poor flat cards in Britain today but two days from Royal Ascot means stable lowlights running. The feature race at Salisbury attracted just five and only the last two races offering lots of form and open betting. Most of the fields at Doncaster are at least a decent size but nothing stands out unless I hear something later.

Over at Chantilly, the Prix De Diane (French Oaks, 3:05) has attracted thirteen. It would be reasonable to expect Shahnaza to be clear favourite on the PMU as the French rarely back visitors. The Aga Khan’s filly won a Longchamp Listed race readily last time and clearly has a lot of potential. Undoubtedly if she wins by more than half a length there will be all sorts of ridiculous comparisons with Zarkava.

Happily has been third in the 1000 Guineas and the Irish 1000 Guineas and steps up two furlongs here. She was beaten favourite in both of those races and I cannot see any good reason why she should reverse Newmarket running with the re-opposing second.

The Pouliches (French 1000 Guineas) form is represented here by Musis Amica (sixth) and Barkaa (fifth) but it looks hard to make a case for either of them as a blanket would have covered half the field at Longchamp.

Three of these come from the Prix Cleopatre: the winner Castellar, runner-up Amazing Lips and luckless fifth Luminate (Frankie booked today). The latter of those three may prove the best assuming Frankie avoids traffic trouble as she was demoted from second for interference that day.

The first three from the Prix Saint Alary line up and the runner-up that day With You was making her seasonal debut and ought to come on for that and only went down narrowly to LAURENS. Karl Burke’s filly has had this race as her objective since the 1000 Guineas and I hope that PJ McDonald will set out to make every post a winning one.

Boy In The Bar (3:40) form slowly improving, so that would be my selection for the day. Smokey, better you tell your friend who this is from, he will quickly 'file' it, for sure! <laugh>

A write up elsewhere suggests WELLIESINTHEWATER could go close in the first.

I have gone for Brian the Snail @ 16/1 in the comp and have also had a saver on the well backed Boy in the Bar @ 9/2
