Agree with others that it feels utterly bizarre that people are happy that Stewart has gone!! We all wanted him to stay but in the end (me anyway) got sick as **** that he was trying to hang the club out to fry and destroy the wage structure.

Good riddance. Doubt he’ll get a hero’s welcome he should’ve expected had it happened the right way. Happy for what he did for us, but sour taste in my mouth.

I believe he was on 3k here & offered 25k at Southampton. Is this right? How much were we offering him to re-sign?

No more than 20 I think but injuries comolicated things

Just seen there Southampton have given Stewart a 4 year contract. Not that I blamed him for wanting to leave anyway but nobody can fault the lad for leaving that’s his first decent contract after being on peanuts for a footballer most of his career and it gives him a lot of security.

No bad feeling about Stewart at all personally. Would have been nice if he'd stayed but we've got a nice tidy sum for a player who's hardly played last 18 months.

And he gets security for a decent amount of time.

We like to do it with a bit of pizzazz (is that actually a word?) these days so yeah I can imagine any late deals will be showcased tomorrow and not announced tonight.

Nor sure what we were offering for his new deal but if they are offering 25k for 4 years plus the 10m fee that's 16m over the 4 years for someone with a bad injury. I genuinely hope the lad is OK and gets fit but they have that sort of money to burn and can easily write it off if it doesn't work out.
