Mayenda and Hemir have been given five year contracts so the club must have immense faith in them, that's a lot of money to be paying out.

We see totally unknown young players signing for the likes of Brighton, Brentford, Chelsea, Man City, etc and think that's all fine.

But when it's us the players seem to be dismissed as 'ones for the future' only.

That would be more understandable if it wasn't for the rapid progress of similar players we've brought in.

And Tom Cannon is only 20 but apparently the answer to our problems.
Well FWIW the state Everton were in on Sunday and cannon never got a look in

he did. 2 years older than him :D

O'Nien was 12 when Bergkamp retired, and hadn't even been born when he scored that goal in USA '94. So I was a bit surprised to see him name him
Just being pedantic here but are you not thinking about the goal at France 98? Luke still wouldn’t be old enough to remember it like:emoticon-0140-rofl:

The gap has narrowed significantly.

In the last window Stewart was months away from fitness, now it's weeks. We've brought in Dack which appears to be helping up front. And we've signed Hemir and Mayenda who may well be able to score in this team ... I couldn't say but neither can anyone else. The club must believe so.

Yes they're young but so is Amad who'd only ever played a dozen games when he arrived. He started very slowly, much quieter than Hemir, and plenty criticised him.

Every supporter, Speakman, Mowbray and Uncle Tom knows we need a striker and the club say they're trying to bring one in. It's just a case of whether you think they're lying or not.

I've no problem with people holding, or posting an opinion, but in this case it's no different to those who choose not to post it thrice daily.
Its a bit like my post earlier when people were asking for strikers ?? we brought in 2 but apparently "these are not the ones we want we want an experienced striker ready to go who will get us 20 goals a season" and blah blah blah reasons. If we have to work with what we have so be it I will support the club for doing what they think is right. Do I believe they would like a bit more experience up front definitely but the truth is so does every other championship club and most of the premier league clubs.
For what it is worth I think that Hemir will prove all the doubters wrong as IMO with a bit more game time, and time for him and his team mates to adjust to his/there style of play he will start to score for fun.

He was inches away from opening his account on Saturday. He also looked more involved than he did against Ipswich. Here's hoping he's a quick learner

The difference is though those clubs can just go and sign 10 wonderkids because money isn’t an issue and then evaluate who’s best and if they don’t think the others are quite up to it send them out on loan to play championship football risk free.. we need them now, we’re signing them to go straight into the team. They aren’t going to develop sitting on the bench every week.

Brighton had Dunk, Milner, Welbeck, Groß, Webster starting at the weekend who are all over 30. Brentford don’t have a young team at all as I’ve already mentioned, City only had 1 player under the age of 23 starting against the mags.

It’s fine when you have a balance and I want to see us signing wonderkids as much as everyone else, it’s exciting to not be linked with ****e has beens but we still need some experience in there.

Pompey v Fulham u21s in the pizza cup tonight be interesting to see if stansfield is involved

Wouldn't be surprised at all if Stansfield is our guy and the hold up is that Fulham have also just lost Mitrovic and want to replace him before they lose Stansfield

Hence the continuous "tomorrow". Because actually its not us holding things up, perhaps everything agreed and they just need Fulham to say yes.

It would make sense because Mitrovic was on/off last week as well

Stansfield may even be training with us this week in anticipation. there's been very few training pics / videos compared to previous weeks.

Yeah you could be right, will all ramp up in the last week as always anyway, still think we get 3 signings in
