Yates, Nisbet, Maja, Healey all fairly experienced and have transferred to other championship clubs 2 of whom were on free transfers.

Hirst and Whittaker both younger players who look promising and went for less than £2m to newly promoted clubs.
Maja been playing in second tier in France and when playing in championship looks well short of what some people are asking for as for Nisbet and Healy not sure I would call them experienced and as your post says fairly experienced I could argue so is Hemir ??? I will concede that Yates may well be able to do a job but is still not the 20 goal a season championship striker that some are expecting however do you think any of these would placate what some of our fans are asking for. But thanks for finally putting some names out there and whilst IMO I probably would only entertain Yates I believe he would only really be a short term appointment and not really sure that would be good for him or the club, but like I say just an opinion and I could be wrong, I still think we need to build for the future and think that the way we seem to be retaining our players of value points to a building process just think a bit of patience is needed.

Yeah but with Hemir and Mayenda you could say exactly the same

We all complain mate like you say its human nature, I know it's all about opinions just sometimes I can't understand some of the reasoning, I could understand if the window was closed, its just people are trying to make out the club are sitting doing nothing , not trying to sign players. I honestly believe some fans think TM has been asking for certain types of players and letting the recruitment team know what he wants , and their reply is **** off Tony we make the decisions and we are only signing kids.
Yes KS is head of recruitment and its his job to find the right players fo TM . Do fans really not think TM will not have some sort of input, of course he will, he's experienced and the will want his input, however as with any job there will be differences of opinion and different roles, KS job is to recruit the best players he can within a budget , develop those players and sell at a much inflated price, TM job is to get results on the pitch, that is why they signed Dack for no other reason than TM wanted him.
He will push to get KS to sign the most experienced and expensive players he can get him to sign, of course he will it will make his job so much easier.
KS has to also get the balance right, at the end of yhe day if he just signed everyone the manager and fans wanted he'd probably be out of a job by Christmas with his reputation in tatters
I watch a lot of football but I don't follow a lot of football, if that makes sense.

99% of the lads we are linked with or sign I've never heard of or not paid any attention to. I can only judge what I see when they play for us.

Then add in personal opinions and the huge emotions that come with supporting the team and there will always be discussions.

I freely admit the off the field stuff really annoys me, bit that's because I want us to be self sustainable, I want the best off the field as much as I do on the field.

Anyway, in 40 minutes I will be in the pub

Yeah, I named those specifically because realistically we still have Stewart and he’s our main striker so IMO we need someone who has a few games under their belt and can slot in straight away. I don’t blame the club for signing the younger strikers at all I think they’re both great signings and I’m certainly not daft enough to think we should be spending £10m+ on a striker at this level.

We don’t need someone to score every game we just need the clever runs, occupying defenders to create space etc which generally players get with experience.

Maja for instance we seen how clever his movement is when he was at Sunderland and he’s a great finisher, I think it would’ve been a good option to have on the bench once Stewart is back (if he is) and offers something different then we’d have Hemir as the 3rd striker and Mayenda as cover out wide aswell as being able to slot in up top.

I think for the younger lads to come in and make an impact straight away it’s difficult because of how teams set up to frustrate us and they won’t be used to that. Hemir will be fine, it’s not his fault whatsoever we were **** against Ipswich. He had absolutely no service but sections of our fans refuse to point the finger at Roberts and Clarke because they’re normally top drawer.

But even Maja and Nisbet are 24/25 ish with 5+ seasons under their belt which is considerably more than Hemir and you feel like they could’ve maybe just dealt with us trying to adapt better than throwing the young lad straight in when he has no other striker on the grass in training to learn off amongst obviously coming to a new country, new lifestyle and lots of changes off the field etc. I’ve never really thought of it until now but that’s probably another reason we need Stewart to stay.

Maja did **** all in the Championship. He had a good league 1 half season. He then did **** all in Ligue 1 and had a reasonable season in the French 2nd tier.

Doesn't actually support your argument in my opinion

when fans say sign an established championship striker i don't think the realise how much the actually cost , anywhere between 10-20m now

archer has scored about 20 goals in the championship, and villa want about 20m

akpom been terrible, his first good season last season 12m

simms played 17 games in championship for us went for a deal worth 8m

cannon played half a season Everton want 8m

sadly the only teams playing them fees is teams who have sold players or teams who have parachute payments

no one else in the championship is doing it,

that's the reason the club is shopping over seas nothing to do with 'ambition'

It’s also another reason why I react to defend the club when people say things like “we’ve had 18 months to sign a new striker”.

I understand the sentiment entirely. But Stewart doesn’t do his Achilles and we have £20m extra to spend on that striker.

Which gob on here said their was no post re Cannon and Nixon and him joining I've just read the full article

it wasn’t me but Nixon has never said Cannon is coming to us. He has always maintained Preston are favourites but others are interested permanently. It’s been his stance for about 2 months.

If you’ve read anything else it’s fake or somebody misreporting him

Did you actually watch a single minute of Maja once he left Sunderland or have you just quickly looked on Wikipedia at his stats?

Exactly the same boat as Roberts and Clarke were in before joining.

That's what ppl don't get is how much it costs for that experienced striker. Me personally I wouldn't class Stewart as experienced in the championship yet all sunderland fans are saying he's worth 10 to 15 mill. Some just need to take a step back and realise what your asking for costs stupid money way football has gone.
