Said otr, maybe for us to progress as a team we'll have to sell one of our prize assets. Then bring in 2 or 3 quality players for needed positions.
Agreed, Look at Boro, Coventry, Bristol City - even Southampton, Leicester and Leeds are selling their prized assets and we are being left behind in terms of transfer budget - not advocating that we sell Clarke, Stewart etc but it might be necessary soon

We are probably looking at next year before we sell one of our valuable players. Can see us signing the lad from Chile on a free, then letting him adjust to our way of playing before selling Clarke.

That’s the sensible way to do it, like we tried with Lihadji unfortunately that one didn’t work out, Aravena looks like less of a gamble already a full international

You could play Hume as part of a back 3 and have Huggins/Gooch & Cirkin overlapping to give Roberts and Clarke support without disrupting the back line

It’s a hard one. I’m torn which way we should go. We need to be tighter at the back so three sound good but then I look at our players and think maybe 442 or 433 suits. To be honest I haven’t a clue. We miss an evans type of midfielder and I think messing Hume around could put him back a bit. Thought last season he was gradually becoming the perfect fullback

I wonder if we'll go back to Neill being the sitter and letting Ekwah go more box to box

O9 is not good enough has a holding midfielder. He is better when the games played in front of him. His passing is decent but he is not great at receiving the ball on the half turn

agreed about the half turn although he was excellent last season against QPR when we won 3-0. I know they are rubbish but you can only beat that is in front of you.

I think that if we are not planning on selling anyone, then this is the way to go.

However, If we are looking to sell one of our assets, I don't want Clarke or Roberts to go this year. We could sell Neil, re-invest part of the money on a CDM in the Evans mould and use the rest of the money towards Aravena or another striker. Out of all of our prize assets, I think Neil is the most dispensable. He is very good at receiving the ball on the half turn and given time can use the ball well, but he lacks pace, often gets caught in possession and his shooting is poor.

I agree with a previous poster, that Aravena looks the perfect replacement for Clarke in a years time, so I'd like to see us get him in this summer.

A lot of chat about whether we should move to 3 at the back or not. I dont mind 3 at the back however you need a quality cdm to play 3 at the back. Theres more ground to cover as your wingbacks push up high to give width which means you need to cover sideline to sideline more often.

This is why signing a cdm is so important to us, im a huge fan of neil but he needs help defensively as its not natural to him - same for ekwah. I like us rotating between a 433 n 4231 formation but we would be better n more solid with a natural cdm in there

Calm before the storm hopefully. The difference these days is that nothing gets leaked - most of the signings we have done in recent years have come out of the blue. Whilst that's a better way to operate it does make the window a bit dull.....
And tense especially after two league defeats lol

I like Trai Hume

Also, don't know enough about Triantis or Seelt yet

I like him too mate but I’m just not sure there’s much point in playing 2 RB’s on the same side when you have fit centre backs. I’d like to see us start a game without players playing out of position I can’t remember the last time we did!

Seelt in the middle with Alese LCB and Ballard RCB would be our best back 3 imo, but as I’ve mentioned a million times before I HATE playing with a back 3 and wing backs and it’s pointless when you have so many midfield options.

Pretty much all of the best teams in the world currently play a back 4 - the only back 3 I can think of that’s quality is what Pep has done at City and that’s because they’re playing with 6 midfielders and no wing backs so it’s ridiculously attacking. I’d love to see us try that for a game :emoticon-0102-bigsm

What have people seen in Seelt to be a guranteed starter? Not a dig just genuinely curious, admittedly looks good on the clips out there of him but everyone looks good on YouTube
