My old mam, bless her used to say " If you can't say anything nice then don't say anything at all"
I've taken that as my guide on here, if I've nowt positive to say best say nowt, it goes against the general feeling of 'supporting' the club for me, which was what I thought we all are.
Pointing out our shortfall is fine by me, but to continually bleat on about it is utterly pointless imo.

I think there is room for debate and room for concern without things being an absolute. So, I'm usually termed a "happy clapper" and "overly optimistic" but this start to the season has pissed me off and I have genuine concerns.

Not to say I don't still retain faith that we will sign some players and get up to the right end of the table

Agreed. OR switch to 3 at the back and bring Batth back into the team
You would still need that dcm even if we switched to a back 3 mate. Definitely need to improve our screening In front of the defence. I still think a back four suits us better with Clarke and Roberts beside a number 10 and a CF. It seems fashionable to have your fb tucking inside to make a extra man in cm but I'd rather see them supporting our forward wide players.

12 months we’ve been in this position

Negligence marra …. Negligence

Not sure where the 12 months comes from,but,....I've heard incompetence, lack of willingness to spend, model won't work etc.etc.,but negligence is a new one on me.
It's been done to death on here....but let's see what the squad looks like at the end of the window.

The window is still open mate....don't despair yet.

I think there are nuances. Play a back 3 with Ballard, Batth and O9 and you can have o9 stepping out in front of Ballard/Batth OR Hume stepping into midfield when we attack down the left. It doesn't have to be rigid but yeah, let's get an Evans replacement in and just make it easier on everyone. There must be a similar player to him floating around the fringes of a PL squad

I really can't stand that tactic we employ by pushing Hume into centre midfield when we have possession. Soon as we lose it and there's a quick transition it's panic stations with players frantically trying to get back into position while we have players running at us. The only thing a full back should be doing is supporting the winger, not coming infield.

Fingers crossed we get one mate. I know we badly need a cf who can hit the ground running, but we badly need that def midfielder also. Get those two sorted and we will look alot healthier.

2 teams, along with the relegated 3 and probably Boro once they sell Akpom who can outbid us for players
Spot on.... not going to be easy, I think our recruitment team are scouring the european market and we just might snap someone up not even on the medias radar. Club seem to keep their cards close to their chest these days

I’d really look at moving Hume into CDM and bring in a new right sided wingback. I Have concerns over Huggins fitness, and if Gooch goes to MLS we have no one that can overlap with Roberts.

I don’t understand why Mowbray is pushing Neil forward and Ekwah back. Neil was making that CDM role his own last season, and should be moulded for it. Ekwah is a natural no8 with a much better shot on him

Right back and two forwards for me - one central, one who can play wide
