No worries at all mate

Was a great chat with him, hes a top guy n played at the highest level at club n International football so great insight from him

He says this summer has been one of the toughest yet - not helped by my club losing 4 guaranteed starters - but says some of the transfer fees at top level really impacting clubs further down the footballing chain currently

The gap between the top of the pyramid and grass roots is going to take another hammering. It’s always been top heavy thanks to Sky but now with the Saudis chucking money around it will get so much worse.

This more than anything is why our club needs to be sensible and stay self sufficient.

Had a great chat with the head of recruitment at my club earlier today and he was moaning about how tough the transfer market has been this summer. Said that hes been working on a loan deal since the end of may n its still not happened despite weekly discussions with the parent club. I was asking why is it so tough, he wasnt sure but says he is finding a lot of agents are wanting higher wages for their players and offering them to clubs in saudi. Says the saudi market is impacting a lot of deals at the minute as agents are desperate for saudi clubs to come in for their players.

Thought it was interesting as i was telling him that we (sunderland) have struggled to sign a striker. Says he wasnt surprised as forward players have been the hardest to sign

Asked him if he heard anything about sydney van hoojdonk (probably spelt wrong) coming to us, said he doesnt but knows his agent n said last he heard there is a lot of interest in him from England, belguim n germany. Said he thinks he would be a cracking signing for us and hes made for english football and hes actually meant to be a cracking lad, rate this guys opinion a lot so def keen if we go ahead with him

Thought id share

I mentioned the Saudi issue on an earlier post.

We are either a more attractive option regards to playing time, or we are taking higher risks on more obscure players from unfashionable leagues.

Also why we need to be selling players higher up the pyramid, it’s the only way to get the money to filter down. Try and compete and you’ll bankrupt yourself in no time, instead bleed them for every drop of cash you can and reinvest.

Great insight mate. Thanks for sharing

@Scout73 completely appreciate if you cannot divulge, but have to ask what level is the club you scout for at? Sounds like Championship or higher, assuming it's British? I wouldn't pry normally but this Chablis is going down well :emoticon-0117-talki

Nah in europe mate, wary about saying the exact club but they are top 5 in their league n have played in Europe last 2 seasons

Sorry I haven't bothered to read the pages of bed wetting, but was wondering has anything else been said about that fullback (Dagba?) from PSG. I've heard or seen nothing since the original link.

I never see any, ‘bed wetting’ on here, just people sharing their opinions and thoughts. Some I agree with and some I don’t. There is another forum called RTG where everything has to be binary, either you are a happy clapper or a bed wetter. They spend too much time arguing about which camp people are in and stifle any discussion. Let’s hope this place stays clear of those rubbish tropes and we can discuss things without being pigeon holed.

I know where RTG is , as you obviously do to. But these last 2 defeats have seen nothing but saying Speakman isn't doing his job, or KLD is skint. I think the last 18mths to 2 yrs, and Speakman deserves a bit of slack. The time for panicking and demanding answers is when the transfer window is shut, if there are still obvious deficiencies then ok. The start of the season is not ideal, I agree, but the season is not lost in the first month ( yes it makes it harder but teams do turn there season round).
I assume no one else heard anything on that fullback then

I agree with you, just didn’t need to call fellow SAFC fans, ‘bed wetters’ as part of your original message. We are in this together, however things turn out.

Well said. Always amazes me how some people seem to struggle with the concept of a message board. You post what you think or what you’ve heard just to inform others. Could be legit, could be a pile of sh!te, does it matter? If you just want facts, go to SAFC.COM.

Personally, like many others, I love to hear the gossip. I’m a grown man and can accept that things don’t always work out, that’s life. I don’t always post much on here, mainly as I never hear much, but I’m always on as I love to hear the gossip. The day it stops, you may as well close down all message boards.

Keep up the good work everyone, sure I speak for the silent majority who love the gossip that message boards provide.
