I am not convinced by this Tom Canon link personally. Is he really the player we need? Not sure I see it in him. Worried also that Everton saw more in Simms than him last season as I wasnt Simms biggest fan. Also, I wonder how much we would trust Everton again if this comes down to a loan deal, basket case of a club who are more than likely be at the bottom end come Jan. I dont fancy having someone who could be callee back out of desperation.

I still reckon we are all about the overseas market. So little value to be had in this country at the minute. I would not be surprised to see a centre forward come in that is on the pricey side but from europe or south america.

Great post

Wages a big problem with the Cannon deal.

Frigan..transfer fee (issues - i dont know if we will go to £5.5m).

2 Strikers and a experinced midfieder wanted. Always said we need to release a couple before we recruit.

Stewart still heavily linked to Stoke..great wages on offer.
We trying for a perm for cannon?

I don't buy in to the KLD is skint stuff, he's evidently not. But I think the big money signings that represent a good profit when you're not in the premier league are few and far between. By their very nature, if they are worth big money, everyone else will know they are worth big money, the player will also know they are worth big money and will likely be aiming higher than the champo. For the the right player I could see us paying 6-9 mil for a young player this year, but I doubt it will happen. Too big a risk, Jack Clarke's dont grow on trees. I do think if we get up that's when this 'model' will really flourish, which is why I dont get the reticence, with a certain segment of the fanbase, to want to get promoted as quickly as possible. Yes, the prem is not a fair game, and after a few years in league 1 champo feels like a godsend, but we belong in the prem and, in my opinion, our model will work way better with the lure of premier league football.

KLD is not skint far from it...however astute and commercially on it when it comes to SAFC.

Somehow much less than the sum of its parts.

This should be the most relaxed window we've ever had ...

... but I can see some big fallouts before long <laugh>

usually, the nay-sayers are out early complaining the club have not signed anyone yet, the club outfoxed them by buying early.

slowly though there are murmers of discontentment starting to appear, just a few little ones.

the problem that i notice is everyone jumping on any click bait headline and trying to be the first to post it, just so they can shout they were the first to mention it in here, if the transfer actually happens...and yet the way the club does it's business now, few know anything until it is signed, sealed and delivered, i may be (am) a semi senile old bassa but even i worked out that these click bait headlines rarely actually have any real news in the full story.

as ever, i am happy to sit and watch any melt downs and 'ban the fecker' cries and leave it the club. *apologies for taking up another space ;)

Not seen any names for the midfielder apart from the lad from Holland

I don't think the club / KLD would hesitate to buy the right player if it ticked all the recruitment boxes and profit on investment should they subsequently be sold.

But at present we are rightly taking our time, assessing options and not rushing into something for the sake of it.

The time to be concerned is deadline day and we haven't added the players we need, but I hope lessons have be learned from last January

Hopefully its a permanent deal, cannon suits our style of play more than simms did imo. Simms is quicker n is a better finisher but cannons work rate is a lot better, his link up play is pretty good as well which we need from our front man with the way we play. Cannon's movement is better than simms so will score as many goals as him but will def set up more than simms.
