If true and the other possible departures and we need to change our expectations. The new signings may well be top class but they won’t be until they have more championship experience so not yet. That’s 6 of our better players possibly leaving or gone . Pritch, Baath, Amad, Stewart, Clarke, Ballard. I love our new approach but this feels like climbing Everest. We need to be careful.
If we lose these players, then unless the recruitment team pull a few rabbits out of the hat then we will have a very hard time repeating anything like last season's position, especially when you consider our buys so far are all extremely young untested kids...but I live in hope

Obviously we're not footballers so don't know how much rumours or moves effect players, I'd guess as humans, it will in some way, but let's just say it has any kind of effect, first Batth rumoured to be wanting away and probably Premier league football a potential destination for Ballard, there's our two CBs "Unsettled". However, there's probably a reason we've went out and signed players for that position so as I said the other day, club for the first time in a very long time we've been proactive vrs reactivate.

Pretty sure Speakman has said several times we're building a squad to push for promotion. Hard to say exactly what that means, but I don't think that includes selling 6 of our better players

No problem at all mate.
If Baath is away I would be much more concerned about losing Baath. I also think Ballard is better than Sanderson, although Sanderson has attributes Ballard doesnt.

Really for me it is a money thing. It is such a big profit after a season. Plus if it West Ham we should be able to get the majority up front after the Rice deal. Could be a telling factor in if we sell, based on the FFP and the current economy. I would think as well the club may opt to only sell one and I would prefer Ballard to Clarke for example.

Point taken and agree that if we had to lose one of Ballard or Clarke this summer then it would preferably be Ballard.

For me this comment hits the nail on the head with certain sections of our fanbase though. When we had Sanderson people were acting like they’d never seen a CB like him.

Then Ballard comes along and he’s undoubtedly better. What’s to say one of the new CB’s isn’t as good if not better than Ballard, and isn’t injury prone.

To be fair my comment was limited to a direct Sanderson/Ballard comparison and didn’t refer to either of the new lads.
As you say they may both be class and I hope they are.

Getting 15million+ for Ballard would be good financial business especially if it was mostly reinvested, I’d like to think these new lads are well up to the task of filling his boots cos they will be under pressure to hit the ground running, but let’s chill and see what this next week brings

Think it is about time that everybody reverted back to what KS has been saying." We are not a selling club we are a club building for promotion" I guess it is easy to overlook that statement but it is a statement from an official of the club and it is not the first time he has mentioned promotion in the closed season. For me it means that our focus has changed from consolidation in the league and more about looking higher, if that means we have to sell to improve then that is what will happen on the other hand if it is decided that we have to keep our players then that is what will happen. If players ask to leave then my guess is that we will not want players who do not want to be there (it does not look like that at the minute). Clubs will always be bidding for your best players and will try and test thr resolve of the club but KS has said that Ross would like to stay and we know how happy JC and DB are so my guess is that if these players are happy still then we may well be starting the season with them. I think we may lose Pritchard or Embleton maybe even LON or Gooch and maybe even one of the above but hopefully it is all planned and for the good of the club. The only thing I would do is put the not for sale sign up a week before the end of the window to stop any influential players leaving on the last day

I would chill a little marras. We're all a bit nervous harking back to the pre KLD regime, where player dealings were very often stupid. However,we're under different management now and we have to get used to not having our pants taken down at every turn. We are now a well run club....at least on the pitch!
The signings of Nectar and Seelt indicate an anticipation of a potential personal problem with Danny Batth...notwithstanding the lack of height issue..... not sure what that is,but the position is covered.....ahead of the game.
Amad gone.....pity....ok,Bellingham in .Ahead of the game. We are not in the business of cashing in early on some of our players....we don't need to...we are well heeled!
Bids will always come in,which we don't need to take, and,in this division, the likes of Clarke and Ballard will know another top season with us this year will allow them an even more lucrative platform from which to jump,in the event we don't make it.
Fear not lads and lasses.....if we can address the cdm issue and resolve the striking options, with everyone fit, we're good to go. Can't wait!

That's teh model of course, but I don't think the club are planning to sell any of the likes of Ballard, Clarke, Patterson etc this season. You'd assume the likes of Seelt. Semedo. Triantas are the eventual replacements for some of these players but they will need a season to bed in. Look at the difference in Trai Hume from when he signed to now....

I honestly think unless them players are agitating for moves we won't be looking to sell until next summer, with that dependent on how this season finishes (promotion and we should keep them for another season again). It will all help the club in terms of points on the board and adding value to those players.

Was listening to the Echo pod with Smith/Copley-Paste and they were saying how it feels a season too early for Clarke/Ballard and there is no appetite from club or players to move.
The close season means that the devil finds work for idle hands, especially on Twitter etc. I'm not overly concerned with the rumours to be honest

Yep. Just wait and see.

No point in selling just for the purpose of a profit, and I doubt that will happen. As much has been clearly stated.

But all clubs sell players. Real Madrid have sold a big player most summers for years before this year. Others are the same and only the non clubs are exempt from this reality. As long as any fee is what we want and not just any that's offered, just let them get on with it.

They are doing a lot better than we've seen for a long time.

This is how I see it too...spot on mate.
