It's just easier to say we paid 5 mil or whatever for a player, even if the actual structure is hellishly complicated and full of clauses because we never find that level of detail out.

Either way I don't think 7 mil is out of our reach by any means. Don't think it was before and less so now we're looking at going up not staying up.

Fair enough, we will pay what we feel is required and we can get value when they have improved imo. If that's £500 or £5 million I dont think matters to the owners, it's what they could be worth that's more important.

If this lad is £7 million and we can develop him into a £50 million striker then that's worth the outlay. If £7 million is his ceiling then it's not worth it.

i don't think anyone knows exactly what the eventual outcome but it might have even pushed to get rid of cup winners and domestic league places across europe in an attempt to keep all the good income in one place...we can all shout but let's face it, who really and honestly thought we would ever have a world cup half way into a season in a country unheard of for it's footballing mastery/history yet it did happen.

My bad, you're absolutely right noone knows for sure, I shouldn't have said "guarantee" etc in my last post. It just annoys me that everyone seems to give Chelsea praise because they "did right by the fans" after the little protest. I don't think they really cared what the fans thought at all and it had far more to do with UEFA threatening to expel them from the Champion's League, personally

i do not believe it was purely down to the fans, certainly not their own fans but there was a fairly wide 'uprising' of fans voices across the leagues and the threat of expulsion will have changed minds for sure and it gave the FA something to grab at while they worked out what to do...but it is the FA we are talking about and their counterparts around the globe, even those outside europe will keep an eye on it to see how much money gets involved and once it starts i feel pretty sure the FA will start 'moving the posts' once they can settle on how much the FA get out of it.
