Luís Semedo is very close to signing for Sunderland, found Record . The top scorer in the eagles' campaign to win the UEFA Youth League, in the 2021/22 season, is leaving and, everything indicates, will head to the club that, last season, played in the playoff for access to the Premier League.

It was a long struggle for Benfica to try to renew with the striker and teammate Diego Moreira, but without success. They soon gave signs that they would not be available to extend their relationship with the eagles with the values that the Luz club placed on the table. At that time, the youngsters already had very tempting proposals and, in addition, the installed doubt that they would become effective bets in the main team.

Now comes the end of Semedo's passage from eagle to chest. There were 12 seasons serving the Luz club, and this passage came to an end without the protagonism it had at other times. In fact, in addition to being the UEFA Youth League's top scorer the previous season, he scored 14 goals for the Under-23s.

The giant goalscorer, just 19 years old, says goodbye to the eagles, after a season in which he was rarely in the starting line-up. Even so, he was used in 18 games, in a total of 732 minutes, and scored two goals. Now, English football awaits.

So where’s all this come from about this kid from Portugal? Loads of people are on Twitter too but can’t see anything concrete

Brighton offered him a 4 year deal. So perhaps we are telling him "why sit on their bench when you can start in the championship"

When you can start jumping in front of the likes of Brighton, who have done this kind of thing very well in the past (Gyokeres, Undav and Evan Ferguson), then you know we're viewed positively.

A really good prospect on a free transfer is absolutely astounding business really, given what he'll be worth next summer if he goes and scores 10-15 this coming season.

And this is where not having enough strikers actually works in our favour.

Saying ‘we can offer you a place in the first team’.
