I am confident Clarke will be bere too. Roberts absolutely. I can see Stewart here too and then signing a new contract in Jan if all is well. I am not so sure we will see anyone sold personally, at least not the big hitters. It may be 1 year too soon to cash in. I could see maybe Pritchard, Matete, Embleton maybe moving on. Bennette, Lihadji off on loan. The core of the squad stays as is, maybe with one or two key perm signings, and 2 or 3 major loan deals. Just my opinion.
can see simms coming back if Everton stay up

The club will only sell when they can get peak value as far as possible. If Stewart isn’t going to sign and there’s a question mark over his hamstring then think he’ll be gone if the right offer comes in. Hang onto Clarke till we make the premiership then he can easily double has value in a season.
The new model is a business taking distressed or undeveloped assets and turning them into more valuable products. It’s a balance between inward investment in squad value and divestment to provide income to fund further acquisitions. Sometimes we may sell early but it will be for good reasons.

Me as well. He was on the bench and they chucked centre backs up front yesterday. Feel sorry for the lad to be honest, 6 more months here and he would be much further on in his career.

Yeah it was a shame the way it worked out. Nobody benefited and it was negative all round. If we got him back we'd get him on track in no time though.

The speculation about our players is great and the talk about how the model works is pretty much spot on. The only worry I have is when you get to the point where the model does not take you any further. For example Brighton and Brentford ( Can they get better next season and push int the top 4 or are they at the limit of what they can achieve?) or even Leicester(has their bubble burst through selling best players and holding on to older players whilst not re-investing in youth) to a certain degree. You can sell assets and take the money and re-invest but at some point the mentality at the club has to become one of expansion and strength where instead of selling the assets we are the club looking to buy them. I know this may be a fair way off but dreaming big is not beyond our reach or our owners it is going to be more about clever management behind the scenes and making the right decisions at the right times

I think the best example is probably Borussia Dortmund. They've been consistently in the top 3 or 4 in Germany throughout most of the last 10 years. They last finished below that in 2014-15 (7th). Obviously they've never won the league in that time, although that could change this year.
I believe the 'throw money at it' approach has to come unstuck at some point and if we're being run sustainably we'll be well positioned to take advantage of that. We're similar to Dortmund in that way- massive club being run without chucking ridiculous transfer fees around. And much bigger than Brighton and Brentford who've probably got a natural ceiling anyway. We've got to get there first though, and this seems like a good way of doing it.

I agree I am just worried that we may end up losing too many good players at one time without finding adequate replacements however that is a question for the future and to be honest what we are doing now is tremendous and is surely the correct way forward for this club at this time I just have reservations about the future. Dortmund are doing really well and rightly you have pointed to how well their model works the only problem with that is could it work so well in the prem league with the Financial heavyweights. I think it can but their has to be good governance and control of selling and buying of players.

Glancing at NewsNow this morning, Alan Nixon (I know !!) says we’re likely to lose Neil, Patterson, Roberts and Clarke.

“Northern” Echo says almost all of our Summer budget is reserved for Bellingham. Hell cost £3m.

So that’s it, were selling 4 players and buying 1 to replace them all!!

You wonder what these people drink when they’re writing some of the stuff

And the Bellingham deal probably replaces the Michut deal - so were spending nothing as that was potentially committed last year. We are doomed I tell ya doomed!

****ing hell. Why do the doom mongers in the local rag write this stuff? Are they that desperate for clicks?

Even a conservative estimate would put last summer's business at £9m or more (Clarke £4m, Ballard £2m, Dajaku £1.5m, Bennette £1m, Ba £500k) so of course we are going to sell all our best players and only buy 1.

Bored and having a look around europe, like the look of these 3 young strikers..

Casper Tengstedt - LOAN - Benfica, played 14 times for Rosenberg last season registering 15 goals and 7 assists before moving to Benfica half way through the season. Plays as CF or winger, reminds me of Gyokores. Great with the ball at his feet, loves running at defenders and a great finisher. Struggled for game time, will be loaned this season imo.

Danny Loader - Porto. Came through Readings academy. 14 goals in 29 games for their B team in the Segunda last season, moved up to first team but has barely kicked a ball this season - 3 goals in 400 minutes off the bench. 2 of them being match winners. Could be one we take off their hands cheap with a buy-back or sell-on clause.

Frank Magri - Sc Bastia. 10 goals in his last 8 games in Ligue 2. 13 goals in 16 starts. Bastia will be in Ligue 2 again next season so a move could be on the cards to link up with our French Contingent. The club have only received a fee for ONE player in the last 5 years so he should be available relatively cheap.

Cracking work here mate, not seen Magri but seen the other 2 lads.

Loader looked an unreal talent years a go and just hasnt kicked on - we seem the perfect club for a player like that now. Better as a winger imo but also a good option for upfront - def the type we should buy.

Tengstedt is a player ive scouted this season. He was really poor in the game i watched, but it was his 1st game for benfica B n hadnt played in months so lacked sharpness. He is a strong lad though, i see where your comparison has come from. He seemed to be better dropping deep to receive the ball n his link up play was decent. Pretty confident he will be going out on loan as i know my club is monitoring his situation.

Depends where you read or believe. The Bellingham deal is up to £3m from what I have heard with an initial outlay of something like £300k and the rest in clauses. Big sell on % too mind. But, as I say, that’s only what I heard from friends who have often been right with this stuff before and read in some news outlets
