We are in a different place but also in a different negotiating position. He might be available for 2m now, previously it was 5m if he stayed. Seems unlikely though, he wasn’t that keen it appeared.

Honestly wouldn't pay anything for him. He's not what we need right now. Need a proper defensive midfielder. We looked so much better last season when Ekwah replaced him in the team.

Don't understand why we wouldn't have made Michut permanent when we had the chance?

Going back for him now reaks of desperation. Could be wrong. I also don't think he's what we need.
Cos we didn’t value him at €5m m8, which was what we would have had to pay

He might not think so but I think he’s a CDM, he was great at interceptions, got stuck in despite his size and could pick a pass over a range of distances.
I'd imagine he'll take some convincing when they tell him that's where they see him playing then. I thought he was better breaking forward imo.

Speakman has said that the model is to build a team to get promoted (not just be sustainable). He has also said that Stewart will only be sold if a better alternative is signed. I'm hoping the same will apply to Roberts. Its possible they could be both here on Saturday if the new player deals fall through on the Sunderland end.

Now if they both leave and no one comes in, then that would be different...

Bloody hell, I've been unable to check in on transfer news today and it seems to have all kicked off.

In isolation (and the correct circumstances), I don't really have a problem with any of the mooted deals.

2 players who will be leaving on a free next summer now that their heads have been turned and a 27 year old who is now 3rd choice right back.

The timing is horrendous though and leaves us with a rush. The club might have had 2 or 3 hypothetical Stewart replacements but they may have moved already.

I'll wait and see what tomorrow brings but it's a little concerning on the face of it.
