Wasn’t a signing I expected but if he can recapture his best form, it’s a good move.

He was one of the best players at this level a few years back.

DONE DEAL: Bradley Dack joins SAFC

https://safc.com/news/team-news/2023/july/bradley-dack-signs-for-sunderland

Sunderland AFC is delighted to announce the signing of Bradley Dack.

The attacking midfielder arrives on Wearside following a six-year spell at Blackburn Rovers, signing an initial one-year deal with a Club option of an additional year.

Dack made 173 appearances during his time at Ewood Park, including 33 last season, and he scored 57 goals and contributed 34 assists.

Prior to joining Rovers, the 29-year-old progressed through Gillingham's youth ranks before registering 38 goals and 34 assists in 185 appearances for the Kent-based Club.

Dack's decade-long association with the Gills also included a brief loan spell at Braintree Town, with the midfielder returning to Priestfield Stadium to be part of the Club's 2012-13 promotion-winning side.

A two-time EFL League One Player of the Year and PFA League One Player of the Year, he was also named Blackburn's Player of the Year after firing the Club to promotion to the Championship alongside Tony Mowbray in 2017-18.

After arriving on Wearside, Dack said: “It feels brilliant to be here. It’s clear to see the Club is on an upwards trajectory and it’s great to be on board. To play in front of 40,000 people every week at the Stadium of Light was a huge pull for me, there’s not many teams in England can produce those numbers. I hope my experience and style of play can add something different to the group, and I can’t wait to pull on the shirt for the first time.”

Sporting Director Kristjaan Speakman added: "We are delighted to welcome Bradley to Sunderland AFC. He’s an attacking midfielder with different qualities to others we have within the squad, and we feel he can add a different dimension to our team. He brings a wealth of experience, but also a personality that can help us on and off the field. It’s great to welcome him to the Club and to see him so excited by the opportunity this move represents.”

Get in what did i say. Unbelievable signing <whistle>.

Sometimes it is a good thing to trust your coaches judgement, in addition to the data and recruitment team. Not everything comes out in the numbers. I am sure this will be Mowbray and Venus sorting this one and being trusted. Like when Johnson got Baath.

Mowbray will know this lad inside and out. He will have a real clear idea on how he helps this side. Dack will know exactly what Mowbray wants as well, and how to please him. Once in a while it is worth doing something like this IMO.

I will be honest and say this pleases me as much as signing Bellingham. Less exciting, but in terms of impact right now, I am pretty happy with Dack.

Over the road saying the model etc, slagging the signing off ha. we’ve signed experienced players before. Our player of the season. Does my head in that place, full of numpties ha, anyway think he will be a good addition and has a point to prove in my opinion. Ohh and his lass is a WAD ha

Over the road is full of knackers so if they don’t like him that’s good enough for me. Doesn’t quite look like the porker people were making him out to be either..

Was against the Dack signing to start with but coming around to it. He isnt going to be a player to start week in week out, which was my concern when we were 1st linked with him.

We dont need him to play 90 mins every game, what we need is a goal threat from the no10 position- he gives us that

Im fine with him starting occasionally, and being an impact sub the other games

Def means 1 or both of pritchard n embleton will leave now imo

As long as he doesnt hamper Ba or Riggs game time ill be happy.
Like you say, surely Embos or Pritch are off now. Its not feasible to have so many players for that position in the squad.

I am waiting to see if Brighton keep Enciso in and around it or fancy him getting a full season in English footy. With Ferguson I wonder if they and he could be tempted.
Not a chance in hell we’ll get him, he’s quality and will be a top top player for Brighton soon. Would love him though.
