I think you'll find Seelt played quite a bit in the Dutch 2nd division unlike Ekwah who turned out not to bad. We've got to trust the data and scouting to pick up gems like we've been doing

Dutch 2nd Division is far below Championship standard, though. I absolutely trust the scouting team, but our model is to pick up players with high potential and slowly bed them in. Ekwah is the exception, not the rule. Look at the likes of...

Bennette
Ba
Dajaku
Anderson
Lihadji
Matete
Hume

They were all brought in to be slowly bedded in, with just a handful of sub appearances in the first few months. I really doubt Seelt and Triantis are expected to be ready to start games this side of Christmas

Hope you're right :emoticon-0148-yes: but until we know for sure I think it would be incredibly risky to offload O9 on the assumption either of them can step in. For me, he will absolutely start the season as 3rd/4th choice CB

I like to have an approach, when coaching, that all new lads have to earn a place ahead of existing lads. Some do it quickly, some less so. In my opinion, as it stands, I would say our centre backs in order of preference would be Baath, Ballard, Hume, Onien, Alese. Seelt, Triantis, Anderson, Johnson all having to yet prove their worth. Based on everything I have seen or read Seelt is going to a gem. I have seen enough of Johnson to think he will be a star, but perhaps a year on loan will work for him. Triantis and Anderson I have no strong opinion on yet.

I do appreciate Hume is the first choice right back but I thought he was superb at CB end of last season and it may well be his natural position. If Huggins is fit and pushing hard for a place then Hume in the middle would be a shout for me. Longer term I see Baath moving on and Ballard being sold. Looking at the list we are ready to promote from within when it happens.

You could be right about Hume.

Too slight to play CB permanently IMO. Great full back don’t see why we’d change it. Having Huggins is a bonus because he’s comfortable on either side.

I think Hume is just perfect for a right sided centre back in a back three, or if managed by Pep, as his right back moving into midfield. He just oozes John Stonesiness

On Triantis and Seelt and how ready they are, I completely get the argument. I definitely think Triantis will need a good while to settle in, he's moved continents and only played at a low level.

Jenson Seelt however, despite "just" playing in the Dutch second division, I just have a feeling he's going to be very good very quickly. I don't think Kompany and Burnley try to sign him last season unless they saw him as a potential starter for them. I know they ended up NOT signing him, but the fact they looked at Seelt and Ballard tells me he's a goodun. Just a gut feeling like.

Bear in mind Speakman, Mowbray, Dodds etc - they're not just going off gut feelings on this one. They're watching them train and so if they start making decisions on players who can leave, then they will be taking into account how these guys are settling and performing behind closed doors rather than gut.
