The £7m bid bear in mind had been reported as rejected, so nobody is thinking its that low. My fear was that Burnley will keep coming back with small increases. Bob saying £22m is music to my ears like.

Plenty want him.

I think he will leave but it will be a high price due to the contract we agreed with Spurs. Hope he stays but I do think, eventually the fee will go high enough and he leaves.

I'm playing devil's advocate, beleive me. As I trust the owner and Speakman. BUT I don't think we can be sure that he won't be going cheap. We have no historical context to show us what this ownership want to do with selling players.

I do trust them that they won't accept anything that isn't what they think is right for us. I just don't know what they think is right.
He's got 3 years left on his contract, so he won't be going for cheap if he does go

As always, it's not the length of the deal that ensures this. It's the players motivation to honour it to its full capacity. Always the case. No point having years on a deal if a players head is somewhere else. Benefits no one. Performances decline, effort declines and cohesion drops.

Not saying that's the the case here. But it will be hard to keep out the noise. Been rumbling for so long.

His own agent said the other day that he loves it at safc, so there is no danger of his performances dropping or motivation. The only worry is someone will offer big money that the club will accept. I hope he stays, will be hard to replace

I do too. Really hope he stays. Agents will say alot of things to be fair. Some are very clever and perception is important.

Are we really thinking Burnley, who recently came out of a transfer embargo, have been battling financial challenges for a while and have Zarouri in their squad, are really pushing hard for Clarke? Seems somewhat unlikley to me. I reckon they have other areas to spend their money on personally.

Agreed, it's a hot topic, nothing else really going on. As for Burnley. A mate of mite told me years ago that away at Burnley, he and a few other blokes were near by when some Burnley ultras were giving young sunderland lads threatening abuse in the q at a burger van. The young lads were genuinely frightened until my mate, stood behind the Burnley ultras, lifted his jacket up to show the young lads the red n white and that they were safe so to speak. Older sunderland blokes churped in and the Burnley ultras **** themselves. Ever since then I've had a "f**k Burnley" view of them.

To be fair, i bet agents will say one thing in public and the opposite behind closed doors. Being cynical that could be seen as a 'come and get me'. I'm always dubious when agents come out and raise their heads publicly.

You can tell by his attitude and the way he played that he loves it here, but money and top flight football talk I suppose. Just hope we get another season out of him then if we missed promotion this time he can then move on. (Probably wishful thinking )

I do think that's the club's intention btw. Want another season. Guess it will come down to the Dosh.

While it's a fact that all 3 teams the were promoted last year ,Forest,Bournemouth and Fulham all stayed up, going to a newly promoted team is always a risk. It depends on what aspirations Jack has, goal etc. We don't know if he wants to stay, wants to play under Kompany or.... waiting to see what we do in the window. Its all a big waiting game.
