Lets compromise and say its a ruling without precedent. Then lets stop talking about it, because it means nothing,in a footballing sense
You spent all of Wednesday bitching and whining cos we "only" bid £30m for Traore on our board you ****ing spoon
Even the Yanks didn't buy that one and they love a high profile court case. Can you fedex me a bottle of tears please, payment on receipt
What a **** publication...... The very same week that Ronaldo’s move to Manchester was being formalised, news broke of another deeply troubling episode across the city. It transpired that Benjamin Mendy, the Manchester City full-back, had been charged with four counts of rape and one of sexual assault. He has been arrested and is in custody at HMP Altcourse in Merseyside. Mendy has since been suspended by the club but they were more than happy for the French internationalist to continue playing after he had been charged but before he had been arrested – in other words, when there was no external pressure placed on the club. They were happy for Mendy to contribute to the team, knowing he was the subject of a serious police investigation, when no one was informed enough to object. Think about that. They knew Mendy was facing multiple charges of rape, and they played him anyway. I know its nuts, it's almost as if they are presuming innocence instead of guilt, and allowing people due process before destroying their lives, utter madness! Scotland really is full of limp wristed ****ing ******s these days isnt it. What happened to Trainspotting!?
A lot of jobs would suspend someone if they got charged with multiple counts of rape. Should be something of a no-brainer for a Premier League football club, especially as Mendy's ****.
And then those employers should then get raped....in court, for millions. No one should lose **** until convicted
It ****ing would if they were my employers, and I was innocent. As soon as my innocence was proven, i'd own that ****ing company
No, you really wouldn't. Suspension isn't counted as disciplinary action and the police charge would give them a good reason. It's not an unusual step for serious criminal charges.
Another club's bid for a player that United were not bidding for ... "I pay no attention to what other clubs do" you complete tart
People can be lawfully suspended and sacked if they are charged with a serious offence that leads to a court case as they could be considered not to be available to complete the terms of their contract (if held on remand like Mendy) or for "bringing the company into disrepute". As long as the employer has followed the law and their written procedures there is no legal comeback. Ain't saying this is OK but that's how it is.
In most cases of non famous people the jury wouldn't know and it couldn't be part of the trial as it has nothing to do with the case.
I think stuff like that is treated on a case by case dependent on the crime. For something like rape, especially multiple counts like Mendy, you would probably get suspended, you are right. I commend City for not jumping the gun though. If he is convicted, by all means sack the ****er, but until then, presume innocence.
Would be surprised if City were still paying Mendy tbh. They announced they suspended when he was charged but refused to comment further, as you'd expect. Jailing someone until they go to trial can imply some kind guilt but it can be necessary to prevent flight or further criminal acts. I think it is difficult issue because a right to a fair trial is a cornerstone to a a democratic society. I tend to think he is guilty due to several people complaining about him over a 8 or 9 month period, but I do accept that my view is irrelevant. I would hate to be a juror on such a case as I would worry that I would struggle to keep an open mind and ever juror should be as open as possible to just the facts rather than their gut react which is what my personal view of this case is based on
