I don't count myself in that category, I think some people are just CH haters and no matter what he does he will never do anything right. Hopefully the next batch of signings will convince them but I doubt it!

Well, since Cocu is the newly appointed coach at PSV, that bit of "information" carries weight, in contrast to much of what we have had to go on up to now. Having been "neutral" (as stock market analysts say), I'm now moving towards "positive". <ok>
 
I'm really confused about Ruddy. Press, in amazing detail, say Chelsea have bid for him. Hughton says we haven't received a bid for any of our remaining players. I just don't know who to believe!!!!<whistle>

philipe cocu was a very good player, i didn't realise he is the PSV coach now. so the toivonen link rumbles on officially, a slow-burner potentially. we shouldn't form bad opinions on him just because he is considering our offer.
i'm sure the club will have other pans in the fire like in january (hooper/graham/beccio for example).

considering how long we have left in the transfer window the whole Toivonen saga could go on for quite some time yet, for obvious reasons he's in no rush. We're all just impatient, get us signings, we want them now!
 
I guess the plane over the pond is a forthcoming deadline that will possibly push certain decisions to be made. Those that can't be forced won't be hurried but these are important games from a team bonding / building perpsective. early sign-ups would be helpful.

In his time with us how many duff signings has CH made? How many did not strenthen the side or the squad? I am struggling to think of one. Last seasons job was clearly sort the defence and it looks like this window he is finishing the job by adding to the attack. You can criticise the order in which he has done things and the style of play resulting but we finished in a decent posiiton last season and have made two excellent additons (including breaking our transfer record) to the squad. Surely to goodness this must be pretty positive news? If we signed Mata and Hazard I get the feeling that some posters on the forum would still think that CH was planiing on using them as target men or defensive shields.

They are great signings undoubtedly and I have no problem with the signings being made (even if arguably you could say that Becchio, Butterfield and camp were not improvements)

I'm not critical in the order he has done things, sorting the defense was certain to be any managers priority. I like Carrabuh and others am worried that the reason for the defensive improvemen was down to defending with practically the whole team. I am fairly sure we will do as well if not better next season may be with a more even points distribution. But will it be by playing the same anti-football just with better finishing or will he improve the style, keep the ball, may be even dominate the odd game? Until I see an improvement in the way in which those points are earnt then I will remain a sceptic on CH's management style.

Really we are being castigated here because we are optimistic enough to believe that, our great club is now being run brilliantly and with the squad we had that we could of played football not hoof ball. I believe that we could of stayed up with a more positive approach.

Again a bit O/T but the PSV statement when Cocu was appointed makes interesting reading. Basically they thought they had a chance of winning the Eredivisie this year, so they brought in the very experienced Advocaat at the start of the season. They finished second, qualifying for Europe in the process, but nevertheless Advocaat stepped down and they appointed Cocu with a brief to rebuild the team, chiefly by developing the club's young talent, and to establish a common style of play for all levels at the club. Of course, it may not work out as they intend, but it suggests a laudable patience and willingness to build/develop slowly over a realistic timescale, in contrast to the "instant success or else" attitude so familiar over here. I wonder if they have an equivalent of Canary Call ........ <laugh> <ok>
