What makes me feel that the intensity has gone out of the speculation about what players might be coming in?
well we won't be bidding £5m for scott sinclair, i can guarantee that! a loan move may not be out of the equation but he has seriously dented his career and his attitude behind the scenes has been somewhat erratic, shall we say... nobody will spend anywhere near £5m for him now. as for capel, nobody actually knows if we've ever been interested in him or not. its just us putting two and two together really. i'd like to think he's the kind of player we'd be looking for but even if we were ever interested in him i wouldn't give us more than a 10% chance of getting him really. liverpool must be favourites as they've expressed an interest and he'd fit snuggly into a rodgers team to be fair.
Can't be much intensity on the Fulham board either, Jol had all his major targets secured a month ago. Imagine how paranoid we would be getting right now if RvW wasn't already a done deal!
Something's got to happen soon! Well, at least it has for Elliot Bennett: http://www.shropshirestar.com/news/...e-elliott-bennett-marries-his-perfect-match/? Great that he made a visit to the FoodBank on the eve of his wedding!
I know Aidan McGeady has been mentioned on here but there were reservations about his wages. There an article on sky sports stating that he nearly joined Wigan in January - surely that means he wouldnt be far off what we can pay? He only has 1 year left on his deal and would be greta competition for pilks. From what I remember he is a quick skillful winger so would fit the bill for what I think we need.
Carroll is going to end up sulking in the Liverpool reserves at this rate. If there's only one club in the country interested in you, so why on earth would you seemingly go out of your way to annoy them?? I think West Ham will start (or have already) negotiations with someone else, like perhaps Bony, to force Carroll's hand and make him drop his ludicrous demands. He's probably already annoyed the Hammers fans as it is.
Certainly he thinks he should be playing for a bigger club than west ham. not sure why. they finished what 9th or 10th last season!
What a lovely story, lovely couple and lovely guy. Come on Elliott, let's have a basket of goals next season!
I think he's seen a tweet someone has pretended is from RvW, and then made up some more crap to add to the mess that twitter rumours are. He hardly seems to be an ITK type.
Just been reading about that, seem Carroll only cares about the money, a player that thinks he's better than he really is. West Ham should just send him packing to Liverpool and get in a player who is hungry about playing football and not the money.
I think this is where you can start rumours on twitter.... For example if i wrote this in a tweet using "" it looks as though its retweet! "@NorwichCityFC: City have agreed to sign Forward Lionel Messi from Barcelona on a 4 year deal from July 1, subject to paperwork #ncfc" I saw it and double checked and no tweets from the NCFC account.
I'm thinking of starting a Real Gossips Association to try and protect the interests of traditional gossips from all these online pretenders. It will soon be impossible to get any decent gossip from your neighbours that hasn't already been broadcast to the entire world, never mind one's own village.
What do people think of Eric Lichaj, who Villa have just released? 24 year old RB who can cover LB. Probably wouldn't be first choice, as he certainly hasn't been at Villa this season, but if we were after cheap cover to allow us to spend more elsewhere, he wouldn't be a bad option in my view.
Whole-hearted player, but simply not good enough. Many of our problems this year IMO were down to not having players of sufficient quality to slot seamlessly in when the first choice was unavailable. So the aim of general improvement to the quality of our squad makes a lot of sense to me. EJ wouldn't contribute to that aim.
Agreed Robbie. We need to have better quality players to be able to step up, if a first choice player is injured. Someone who wasn't normally in the starting 11 for their current club doesn'tr 'fit the bill' as far as I'm concerned.
Are we making the same mistake as last season by leaving our transfer dealings for later in the window, leading to a slow start? The year before, Lambert did all the dealing early and the squad was settled.
I also agree, as it smacks of a 'squad player' mentality that we certainly should be moving beyond next season. Genuine competition for Garrido is what is needed.
