I'm not going to have a dig at Rodgers as he deserves a chance, as does any incoming players. It is a little more low key than the Rafa dealings though, but then, how many of us knew about Alonso or Garcia when they joined...? Or Arbeloa, Sissoko, Agger, Skrtel, Reina, etc...
Times also says we've slapped a £27m price tag on Agger. So balancing both story's (taking them as true) I'm actually a little bit optimistic. If City, Barca blah blah pay that I'll not cry myself to sleep. If he stays because no one will pay it; great! On Allen, well shock horror didn't see that one coming. Good young player. World class? Probably not but then all the pessimists have claimed we have an average team and the owners have no money/don't want to spend money so we'll not be buying the 30m 250000 a week players anyway oh & a manager that has no scouting team , no plan b and only goes after Swansea players sooooooo....Joe Allen then...?result!!
Luis Garcia man, what a legend. Could go on about him all night! Reckon Joe Allen will be a good signing, i know stats can be taken out of context but his pass completion is immense, he just doesn't give it away. Still cheaper than Downing and Henderson, and in my opinion a little more exciting. Still not Luis though!
@liam_tomkins: So, yesterday Daniel Agger turned up at Melwood with a YNWA tattoo on his knuckles & today told a supporter he "never" wants to leave. Sounds positive as rumour & speculation goes
Didnt mean to be a dig, although it came out as such. Just frustrating that as soon as he took over the only players we're ever bloody linked with are Swansea players, I mean ffs, they're all so ****ing overrated as is Swansea, they're a championship club that played well under Rodgers but still a mid-table club with mid-table players. We need quality and Alen just gives me visions of overrated one season wonders like Adam and Carroll, good but not great.
To be fair, though, the only serious link was Joe Allen, the others just seemed to be 'ex-player, he must want them...' I am happy if this is true, as it shows intent to bring in young players that will work, as we've already seen from Borini. A video of Borini's highlights shows him constantly in his own half to win the ball back, then sprinting to give options. Watching the Great Britain team, Joe Allen was not afraid of tackling either. This is something I think we need, not only attacking players, but players that will get stuck in (without red cards (Adam, I'm looking at you,))
Yes... but they were Spanish... not Welsh... well some of them were Spanish... the others were mostly from the same continent as Spain from non-Welsh clubs... not that I have a problem with Wales- I rather like Wales... but Spain is slightly better at footy than Wales- and has nicer weather... I hear Ian Rush was Spanish at heart...
Had some info via the infamous Duncan Jenkins that Agger does not in anyway want to leave and its the club who are encouraging it because we have no money and the Carroll deal has gone out the window, so were looking at selling Agger to raise the required funds.
I think Agger might just stay now and if he does leave it will be for 25 mil plus which can only be a good things in terms of replacements and what else we could get.
Tony Barrett says that Liverpool want £27m for Agger and neither the manager or the player himself wants to leave. Hopefully we will price Man City out of a move and keep hold of him. Hearing that we have activated Joe Allen's release clause and a deal can be wrapped up within the next 48 hours.
If a team as just gained promotion and followed it up by finishing mid-table in the Premier League, they are bound to have one or two gems in their ranks. However, I understand your point
We clearly wanted Sigurdson, we have bought Borini and I suspect Allen will be joining us shortly. That is not just Joe Allen
When Rafa signed these players, Spain weren't seen like they are now. Still not quite in the depths of Wales but still... PS - glad you mentioned Rushie as I was going to make you a list of top Welsh players
If the player doesn't want to to go and he truly knows the manager doesn't want him to leave either, then surely he won't go regardless of the transfer offer...?
True but it would make me uncomfortable knowing that my employer wants to sell me. Plus, if I truly loved the club, would I leave for £27m to help improve the team? I'm hoping we don't get rid of him. Some things are more important that money and our recent transfers give me little confidence that we will successfully reinvest the money.
Here's a squad; ------------------------------Neville Southall (Jack Kelsey)------------------------- --------------Ron Burgess (Mike England)---Kevin Ratcliffe (Ron Paul)----------- Stuart Williams (Peter Rodrigues)-----------------------------Joey Jones (Gareth Bale) ------------Ivor Allchurch (Robbie James)---Gary Speed (Brian Flynn)---------- Billy Meredith (Terry Medwin)-------------------------------Cliff Jones (Ryan Giggs) ------------John Charles (John Toshack)----Ian Rush (Mark Hughes)-------------- Bench: Dai Davies (Gary Sprake), Peter Nicholas (Alf Sherwood), Mel Charles (Fred Keenor), Rod Thomas (Mark Bowen), Terry Yorath (John Mahoney), Aaron Ramsey (Mickey Thomas), Clayton Blackmore, Craig Bellamy, Dean Saunders, Leighton James and Trevor Ford. Not bad for a nation of 2 million whose first sport has always been rugby union .....oh yeah, can't believe I forgot....Pat Van Den Hauwe!!!
