Not so sure it is that cut and dried mate. Arsenal under pressure to win the league and they can find ways to give academy players meaningful time. Dowman was probably the best player on the pitch mind. Look at the goal the young lad at Liverpool scored age 16 yesterday - huge pressure moment and Liverpool trust the lad. The signal it sends through the whole academy is enormous. We have our own super talent in Rigg imo. If he is not ready to play premier league football I will eat my hat. Like Arteta said about Dowman, Mowbray said about Rigg - you have to look beyond the age and see the player. It takes bravery from coaches to play such young lads, but I would wager in Riggs case he will shine and leave some of the lads purchase this summer in his wake. Academy football is producing players ready for elite football at younger ages these days. No point accelerating their development when they are so talented, to then stall it a the finishing line for them.
Liverpool are paying that kid 15k a week and I know they paid doak serious money when they poached him from celtic. Its all very well getting romantic about it but the big powerful clubs still hold all the power and have the money to invest in the best kids. They can talk about coaching and of course there is an element of that but it's about identifying and recruiting the best players and then giving the conditions to thrive. Hopefully we are on that path

It’s funny that it’s happening, but it’s potentially career suicide if Newcastle don’t cave. I can’t see any realistic way that he gets reintegrated into that team after all this refusing.
he wont they really need to let him go it course so much damage if they dont

Reactions: SAFC Wilks
If they don’t accept the £100m+ offer then they can’t keep crying about PSR when they’re turning down a fair decent profit like that.
Makes me laugh when they cry about psr. They brought on about £140 million of signings as subs last neet

They are ran ****e anarl. Blew their load woth signings when their saudis took over and they are shocking at selling

survival is the top priority this year, no matter what it takes
Possibly. Two things about that though. First is the fallacy that survival absolutely depends on stuffing the squad to the point where there is no space for academy players to get minutes. That isn’t necessarily true. Secondly if you make that excuse for this season, are you not just gonna make that excuse next season too?

Fumbling Rigg is bad for safc. Is it worse than running a smaller squad than many seem to want? Maybe, or maybe not. Would be dependent on circumstance. We certainly don’t want to get relegated, but we also don’t want to get relegated having completely thrown away our reputation for player development. A safc that fails to make a pathway for our best young academy players is a club that has a ceiling far lower than where we’d like it to be imo. It remains a balance, of course, but hopefully one that the current regime can achieve.
