Should have added the laughing emoji to show I was joking my badits the ivory coast flag...
It would add another to our champions league defenceWould be absolutely perfect for us right now and for a couple of years at least.
He is PL proven and would absolutely elevate the defence immediately.
This lad is class! There's no way I think he'd come to us,but,if he did?Would be absolutely perfect for us right now and for a couple of years at least.

I know Xhaka is likely on close (or over) 100k per week but I can't see us being able to afford Akanji? He'll be on lots more wont he?
HomesportFootballGranit Xhaka: How the Sunderland move really came about
This is how Xhaka left Leverkusen
"I thought someone was playing a prank"
For the first time since his comeback in England, Granit Xhaka talks to Blick about the details of his deal with Premier League newcomers Sunderland: when he was contacted and what convinced him.

A few days after the spectacular 3-0 opening win against West Ham United, Granit Xhaka (32) offers a deep insight into his new daily routine in a big interview with Blick (the full exclusive interview is available here): "Here, they live, breathe, and suffer for the sport. This passion is real."
He's gaining "experiences for life," says the captain of the Swiss national team. "I will never regret this decision, no matter what happens."
For a long time, speculation surrounding Xhaka's future circulated throughout the summer, but now the 32-year-old reveals how his remarkable transfer to the rugged northeast of England really came about. Initial contact was reportedly made one day before his departure for the Bayer Leverkusen camp in Rio de Janeiro.
“You have to do this, Granite!”
"At 11 p.m., a Swiss number lit up on my phone," Xhaka described the situation to Blick. "I was on my way to bed, the children were already asleep: 'Hello, this is Kyril. I'm the owner of Sunderland.' I went along with the game because I thought someone was playing a prank on me. My agent, José Noguera, was in America at the time—with the time difference. I gave Kyril my agent's number. The conversation was clear, but brief. Ten minutes later, José contacted me via FaceTime, along with the sporting director and Kyril. Then I realized: Things were getting serious."
After that late-night phone call, he felt: "You have to do this, Granit! The club is coming from a situation that reminded me of my parents' beginnings—from scratch. And I feel that this experience here will give me the most for my future."
In an exclusive interview, Xhaka not only reveals his plans for Sunderland, but the midfield maestro also touches on his eventful and successful past with Leverkusen. And Sunderland's new captain clarifies what has really bothered him in recent weeks about the reports of his departure from the Werkself.

I would hesitate with "categorically",but it would take our defensive unit completely to another level. His national team captain being our captain definitely gives it a shot.
As mentioned above though looks like the salary is impossible.
That said. We categorically wouldn’t be relegated with a signing like that.

I wouldn't say we wouldn't be categorically relegated at any stage at the minute.....however I would say that the gap,as you say, would be considerably widened!I wouldn’t personally. I’m confident we have enough ‘as is’ this would just be widening the gap.
Does that mean add another few million on?
Not to mention the chance to team up with Xhaka and take a steady walk into English PL immortality!Akanji still walks into most PL teams best Xl’s, convinced Gala are giving him a pay rise to go there. He would have much better options if he was willing to take a cut
A winger is important imo. IMO RLB doesn’t rate Roberts so using him when the others go to AFCON with some massive games isn’t for meTo be honest, I am happy to go with what we have. Anything more is a bonus.
The club might well be thinking the same way, getting all of the players through the door early means we can’t be held to ransom in the finals days of the window.
it is almost as if someone at the club knows how these things work.
Yep. Definitely need another wide manA winger is important imo. IMO RLB doesn’t rate Roberts so using him when the others go to AFCON with some massive games isn’t for me
Would anyone be happy with signing Wilson Odobert from spurs they apparently only want 20m

They’ve had a lot of big investments into that club recently. There’s a big push to get them challenging in the champions league every year. Osimhen is reported to be on about 250k a week.Online suggests between 130-180k week.
Gala won’t be matching that.
Does seem a bit rich for us on that side like.
