My recollection was BSA was about to walk as Shorts son decided he wanted a tennis business in sunny California rather than a football team in the NE... and funds were directed away from Sunderland AFC.
Maybe. But we still spewed money out on those two. Moyes just raided his old address book.

Thankfully, all in the past!!

I always say this! If BSA hadn't went to England he might have walked away anyway. I remember watching an interview of him at the summer training camp abroad and he basically said "owner isn’t backing me, won't sign any players I want, its far from ideal way to start a season and Im not happy!"

It was going to end in tears anyway if he stayed imo!

But we could spend 8m on Djilobodji 10 m on Oviedo/love/mcnair/gibson and 14m on ndong ?
See youngies reply.

I remember this now <cheers>

Edit: I blamed Kane for taking the corners against Iceland <laugh>

Think he said recently in an interview that he was lining up players and had a basic agreement from Short on what he was going for. Everything passed through the filter of time of course.

For all 17th is the goal for us. KLD has higher ambitions

I think the sensible reasonable ambition would be minimal aim of 17th to make sure we stay up, anything higher should be seen as a bonus (ofcourse the owner wants more), but stay up this year, we continue to build. I think it's safe to say that we want to stay grounded and not appear to look like them up the road.

Came on here to a mountain of pages of people bickering over nothing.

More to life than that lads. Found out this week my wife has a large tumor in her spine, she's only 36, **** knows what happens next.

Just keep it sensible boys and girls, we all want the best for SAFC.

Sorry to clog the thread, but just want to say thank you for all the support and well wishes I've received recently.

My wife had her operation today and had the tumour fully removed from her spine. It took quite a while (it was about 8cm) so my arse was twitching all day. But hopefully this is the start to her full recovery.

Thanks again for your support, and haway the wizards <cheers>

Great news I hope your wife is fully recovered soon. All the best to you both.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery for her. Also, although she is your priority, and rightly so, please make sure you look after yourself.
My wife is still in hospital and they still dont know where her infection is coming from and they are doing tests for potential blood clot in her right leg. She couldn't bear any weight on it after using a commode today and they had to use a hoist to get her back into bed, just as I was arriving this afternoon, after which she zonked out with the painkillers and antibiotics. Fortunately they stopped me going into the room until it was done.
I only say this as I have felt **** all day but reading your message puts it into perspective and made me realise I also need to look after myself.
Good luck FPDP :emoticon-0152-heart

Fantastic, hopefully her recovery is not as traumatic as the op and your wife is back on her feet as soon as possible. Fingers crossed for you both <ok>
