I'm a bit of a softy regarding players tbh.

It's a really difficult career and they must all desperately want to make it work ...

... I honestly wish every one of them all the best.
100% mate probably the most likeable squad we’ve had in my lifetime, not all of them contributed loads on the pitch but the likes of Anderson look very popular amongst the lads so behind the scenes they’ve played a part

I'm the same, that's why sometimes I come across as ruthless saying players myst be loaned out or sold

It's a short career and these boys need to go and play. We have quite a few players that are in their 20s and barely played any senior football. Huge ask for these boys to start to contribute at PL level, that's why some will be moved on for the sake of their careers

Buzzing for o9, he is everything I love about this football club. He's never had it easy since joining but he hasn't downed tools, he's stood up and been counted when many others haven't.

He is a MASSIVE reason why we are in the PL, not just with his ability on the pitch but for what he brings in the dressing room. I know an ex lads player and he said Luke is special, a true leader and helped him a lot in his career

I will be emotional seeing Luke play in the PL for us, be a special moment

Dont know the bloke but its telling that flanagan was having a sly dig on a podcast recently saying onien was marmite, blokes the epitome of a pro from the outside and evidence of why hes a prem player and flannagan is a has been.

I appreciate what you're saying.

I have to say I hate it when people callously demand someone is 'shipped out' or their contract cancelled.

We have foreign kids, like Mayenda, trusting Sunderland and some of the 'Football Manager' brigade dismiss them like they're cattle.

Thankfully the club are more compassionate and are building a reputation for that.

It's easy to write players off but you don't attract the next batch if you're throwing players to the wolves ...

... they're human beings with parents who come to the games, we need to show some respect imo.

I have to admit I'm the same. Was absolutely gutted when Marco left and up to the present day, disappointed when Jobe left.

Rightly or wrongly, my mindset is those players on the pitch represent every part of us fans when they pull on that shirt and in my mind would they ever want to leave? But they do and I think I'm beginning to accept that side if it - only took me over 40 years!

Luckily we do what's right for players, that's why i think we will see quite a few leave this summer as the club has probably outgrown them. That's totally fine as it happens, it's about looking after players and making sure they have great careers after they leave us.

We have a lot of players that aren't good enough for the PL, so we will get them moves. We then have a group of players that certainly have the potential but will only get that by playing 1st team minutes.

I tend not to write players off, especially youngsters as they develop at different rates. I try to make comments based on what I feel is best for a player and of course the club
