There would be no way the club would sign off on a player like that, on the wages he was reportedly wanting, with his injury record.

Leeds can have him.

Aye I do think it sounds unrealistic for us given his age and demands, not really the Xhaka type of signing. Only thing that convinces me that we may have been in for him is that he’s a free so we could offer more wages. To make him the highest paid at the club would surely be £100k+ though, can’t imagine Xhaka on much less

We're almost there, looking pretty strong. I think it's obvious where we need to strengthen still.

RCB with Seelt to go on loan
RW with Talbi having the flexibility to cover on the left of needed.
RB with Huggins to go on loan
CF if we can find an elite player that changes the game.

I love our midfield 6 options, happy with GK, LB, LCB, LW and content with strikers.

My understanding is we must name a 25 man premier league squad. U21 players, like Rigg, are not included in that, so technically we can have a squad bigger than 25 able to play.

Of the 25 8 must be homegrown. Our current homegrown list I reckon is as follows.

Patto
Neil
Cirkin
Ballard
ONien
Moore
Alese
Browne
Hjelde
Huggins
Roberts
Anderson

Of that 12 as it stands 8 need to be listed in our 25 man squad. I think. You would think Patto, Ballard, ONien, Moore would be certainties at this stage? Neil and Cirkin too if they stay. So we have 6. We need to name 2 more unless we buy. Roberts and Hjelde would make sense. If we sell Neil it starts to look more difficult and any replacement would surely need to be homegrown? Same for if Cirkin goes?
Yeah this is my thinking. As an aside I don’t think Hjelde counts as homegrown. He joined leeds from Celtic the day after his 18th birthday. I think we’ll be fine this season. As I said before I think we’ll be far less successful at shifting unwanted players than most think, so there’ll be plenty of names we can use. Where it starts to get more difficult is for next season. It wouldn’t surprise me if most/all of our purchases next summer need to be homegrown players, just to make it to the number.

seen an article last week saying he didn't want to come to us, but was apparently quoted as saying he wanted a "further up the table" club. Blokes a walking sicknote and I would hate to think we were paying him a fortune to miss chunks of the season. Add to that the Geography, probably doesn't move house, much like Jackie boy going to Everton.

The phrase 'beggars can't be choosers" springs to mind. We've enough players with injury records. Cracking player but I reckon we've dodged a bullet imo.

Looks as though Southampton will be selling Mateus Fernandes to West Ham, who's rated around £30m ...

... and signing Rudoni, from Coventry, who they'll get for around £15m.
(Yes the same Rudoni their fans believe the bidding would start at £25+.)

Looks like being a poor season for Coventry who'll be very lucky to make the playoffs.

The 3-0 win against us fried their brains and made them think Lampard was a tactical genius ...

... in reality it's always the same endless crosses and playing the percentage game.
