I think the RR lads got it right, we weren’t actively looking, got offered something that was worth exploring so kept it as quiet as possible.

I imagine it’s then not progressed as talks carried on

between each of the above people have pushed ITK info out and consequently now look abit silly

Wouldn't be surprised if the club lets false leaks slip to find out who the mole is, we're that tight lipped nowadays.

I think it's probably time to give up on hearsay and concentrate on the bigger journalists.

Lads give out info with the best of intentions but it's very hard to believe them now tbh.

I've been there myself when I've told people stuff I've heard, some right and some wrong. But I hear hardly anything regarding recruitment now.

As for Barnes and Pryde, **** me lads, that is embarrassing. Basically admitting they know nothing but try and pass it off anyway <doh>

Beyond a joke now with all these so called journalists firing off absolute drivel ...

... the trouble, if you're at work and miss a few pages, you're left with a story that's totally contradictory to the next one.

"Enzo is unhappy and wants to leave" .... oops ... "Enzo loves it at Sunderland and can't want for the season to start".

"Dan Neil is staying at Sunderland and wants to fight for his place" ... oops ... "Dan Neil is considering his future."

You may be right about finding 'The Mole' although he may just be the latest superhero like SpiderMan.

One thing's sure, if any employee is found to be posting flight details, transfer negotiations or other sensitive information, they'll be sacked ...

... they've all had to sign some pretty serious NDA's.

The days of 'my mate at the club told me' are pretty much a thing of the past.

I wouldn't put any stock whatsoever in anything reported by Nick Barnes. He's been passing off his own opinions as fact for years. I might be wrong but wasn't he adamant that we wouldn't be signing Xhaka and then didn't he claim that Guiu didn't want to leave London therefore he wouldn't be joining us on loan?. Just spouts rubbish imo

Yeah it's one thing knowing someone is injured etc. But transfers is definitely a no go now.

Ballard and Seelt isn’t awful for RCB, especially if O’Nien is also available. To loan anyone we’d want another LCB and that would free Hjelde or Alese for loans. With our current injury record at CB I wouldn’t be at all surprised if we keep 5/6 in the squad.
I am going out on a limb. Hjelde will have a better career than Seelt in terms of levels played at.

Now, full transparency. Golf has been played, couple of beers in the sun after. No real food since bacon and egg roll before tea off. Unless a dual double decker counts. Some sod bought a round of gins. Now off out for a meal. Anything above and from now ignore.

Its funny a side like Everton, who obviously have a bit more firepower than us wage wise, can sign a player like Grealish so casually, especially when theres a possibility they will finish bottom half.

Weird old league, Wolves being in for Disasi and Fofana just screams a laugh, especially for nearly 50 million.

The closer West Ham gets, the more worried I get. Its exciting, but to me it will almost feel like a derby day, our big return.

I think Seelt will be a gem IF he can keep fit.

Do you think Bellingham was overpriced? I think Dortmund got the better end of that deal personally. I know PSR and all that is important, but in todays market Bellingham is very much a 30m player. That boy goes to the very very top.

For a big club no, because they can afford to slot him in and let him thrive with better players around him. If his form drops they can bench him and it makes no difference. For a club like us who need players who are solid now, absolutely. If we spent 30m on a midfielder to help us THIS season it would be hugely underwhelming irrespective of how good he may be in a few years. We don’t have that luxury unfortunately and I think that’ll be the case with Rigg but the main difference is he’s an academy product that will get sub appearances to help him still kick on. If he was bought for £30m he’d be expected to go straight in and make an impact.

Think of it this way, if we spent 60m on Jobe and Rigg to play in the middle of the park this coming season by how many points would be dead last?

And yet we keep dominating u21 football in Europe? Some of the prices suggested for young centre backa from Europe are ridiculous tbf. The lad from Roma with one season to cost more than Geuhi? Barmy stuff.

The lad from Fiorentina anarl. €40m!? :emoticon-0102-bigsm:emoticon-0102-bigsm It’s like everyone doubles their prices when they hear a PL club is interested.

-100 mate. Champions by Easter.

In all seriousness it is fair enough. I still hope we have a balance. I dont know if this is poor form to say or not, but it is the English Prem League. Be nice to see some English players in out team.

Yep I agree. Think it’s maybe just a season too early for Rigg but he will play his part this season and hopefully if we can stay up play a much bigger part next season. Think the main thing this season is just staying up because if we can do that then the chances of survival the season after will be much much higher and we can kick on. Would be nice if we could get some “proven” British players for cut prices who are toward the end of their contract next season.

We usually comment on every transfer thread about doing business late on as more players become available that possibly weren’t earlier in the window. Can absolutely see a world we are holding some budget back for that.
